Lisa, do you ever wonder why you have no friends and hospital staff treat you badly. It makes a person wonder just what you are like that no one wants to be your friend or be nice to you.
You couldn't be more wrong. Sadly, whenever I endevour to voice my opinions about Winnipeg and some of the people I've met here, there's always someone (like yourself) that says it must be because I'm the problem. I'm the "not nice" person, complaining about everything!! For your information, I'm an extremely kind, loyal and loving person. I value friendships and common courtesy to others very highly. I have many friends here who, like myself, value "decent" people. We have respect for our fellow man and only want to be treated with respect and decency. But, because I take the time to voice my criticism of those among us who trample over the feelings of others without care, I'm considered to be the problem. I guess you are one of those I've had the unhappy experience of running into these past years.

The irony is the only people I know that talk about this kind of thing are usually the first people to ditch a friend in need, or stab a friend in the back at the first opportunity.
Never ran yet, or stabbed anyone in the back. However, I've had it done to me numerous times so I know how it feels and wouldn't do that to an animal. I have a reputation amongst those who know me of being one of the most dependable, kind people they've ever known. Is it so hard for you to understand that there are people out there like that? People that are kind, that care and like to be treated with dignity and kindness. All we ask is to be treated accordingly.

I'm not really surprised by those acerbic replies I received to my posts on hospitals and some Winnipeg people. Proves my point that there are really some very unhospitable people here in Winnipeg who cannot take constructive criticism. For goodness sake, give people a break when they want to voice their opinion. Or, did my posts hit a nerve in those of you who took such offense?

How two-faced is that? Never stabbed anyone in the back all right. You just slandered people at the hospital and then play the innocent. What, poor me, I never do that. No, not much Lisa. Lisa, you can't have it both ways. You don't get to slander people and then backpeddle. Once the words are out of your mouth or down on paper you can't take them back. Lisa, slandering someone is similar to stabbing them in the back. Lisa, this is not a nice thing to do and nice people don't behave like this. Lisa, you do get to express your opinion but don't expect everyone to pat you on the back for it.

Just came back from a weekend in metro Toronto, and what a surprise it was.

Even though it rained, we walked to several venues downtown, in the evening, and never once did we feel like our safety was at risk. Not once!

We were also shocked by how friendly and courteous everyone was, whether it be on the streets or the sidewalks, or in the restuarants and malls. We were shocked because we are always talking about how people in Winnipeg seem to be so rude, or how staff in restuarants/malls are indifferent and act like they're doing you a favor by being there instead of you doing them a favor by buying their product/service and thus providing them with a paycheque!

Hey, I know not everyone in Winnipeg is like that, but it sure seems like most of them are these days. I've lived in Winnipeg for 44 years and have never considered moving, but the more I visit other places, the more I wonder why I stay here.

Lived here most of my life. The realities like the ones at the beginning of this post are relatively true. I keep my distance from most people until I get to know them. Had many unpleasant personal experiences growing up here. Sort of set a pattern for now, I suppose.

The weather? Everybody has got it right about the winters but the other 3 seasons are by far the best. But remember, for the winters: dress for the weather, people! The air is fressh, yet cold, so why walk arounf as though this is Miami. Find something to do like the rest of us. Many a great achievement begins with the time to start something. Many people here are into doing something on their own so you'll find that creativity can find a place during the coldest of January nights. Many people who live here hate the cold if they do not dress for the part but these same people are very active during the spring, summer and autumn.

Much more to say but no time. Maybe later.

Wow, Lisa.

Nobody wanted to be your friend in Winnipeg? I can't honestly understand why...

It saddens me to read all the negative talk about Wpg. Winnipeg has a great history. Look at all the Jews that were excepted along with all others across the world. It looks like the 2 main criticisms of Wpg. are weather and natives. Bad people are a problem no matter what race. Almost anywhere you go in North America you can pick a time of the year you do not want to be there. I have visited Wpg. 2-3 times a year for 40 years. I have met many nice people and Wpg. has more than it's fare share of pretty girls. I think there should be alot of community conservations to right the ship. In the meantime hold your head up. Your history is grand and better days are ahead. Good Luck

Typical stupid miserable Winnipegger excuses: Cold Weather and Natives. Please get real and come up with something different or reasonable. You can't change our climate nor can you remove Natives from this city. Try and be a little more productive, stuck-up losers.

Have you ever considered taking ESL? It might help you to make yourself understood.

WoW...I have never heard such nasty comments about a city than on this forum...I am not from Winnipeg but I do not see anyone beating up other Canadian cities like people on this forum beat up on Winnipeg. I believe that Winnipeg is not that bad and has a lot of positive attributes. It would be nice to hear some positive comments or even some points on how to improve things...

It is apparent that English is not your first language. ESL means English as a Second Language. There are lots of courses available and I am trying to help you so you don't embarrass yourself. For example, did you mean "focus"? The word you used could be mistaken for a not very nice word. I am sure that you want to fit in and speak and write the best English you possibly can. So all the best in finding the right course for you.

Winnipeg is probably the worste city in the entire nation. I have traveled all over Canada and it is no good. When dozens of people comment in a similar way you know there's veracity in their claims. People are rude, bullies, slobs, morons, and definitely malicious and unfriendly!
