Business leaders seek faster Canada-U.S. border crossing after delays

Manditory passports may help speed up border crossings. It is a very good idea, because it helps to investigate those wanting to cross before they get there and it discourages those who don't have any business coming into the country.

we just spent three hours at the boarder crossing from Canada to USA. It was 3/21/2008 starting at 12:10pm and we finally crossed at 3:16 pm. We obeyed the rules got in the line for autos only watching many cars go into the truck lane only to later on cross back and cut into the auto lane. There was no regulation of this. Then staying in lane the left lane was moving but the two right lanes barely budged. Everyone was getting very annoyed but you can not do anything. The trip from NYC to Quebec one week earlier had been great. We were already planning a summer trip, but after waiting THREE hours to get back into USA I can not put my family through this drive ever ever again. While Quebec was absolutely delightfull, the USA boarder ruined the whole trip. I had tried this instead of flying for the sole purpose of avoiding this kind of huge delay. The system had one lane with three agenst serving on the left and two lanes of traffic on the right served by one very very slow rude agent. Do Not Drive over this boarder is my sad reccomendation.
