Canadian woman vows to kill herself if convicted in Mexico with...

- A Canadian woman languishing in a Mexican jail for two years and apparently facing a conviction on money-laundering charges even though her lawyer has not filed a defence vowed Thursday to take her own life on the same day if she is convicted.Brenda Martin, 51, of Trenton, Ont., has been in jail in Guadalajara since Feb. 17, 2006. Mexican authorities allege she was part of a $60-million pyramid investment scheme that scammed about 15,000 people in dozens of countries. When asked Thursday in a phone interview with The Canadian Press what she would do if convicted, she said without hesitation: "I will commit suicide the same day. I have no prospects whatsoever. I will go home in a box or I will go home on my two feet."Martin said she is "hanging by a very thin thread," and is pegging whatever little hope she has remaining on Prime Minister Stephen Harper."I believe that the only person who's going to get me out of this hell is the prime minister," she said.Martin, who initially sounded stoic during Thursday's interview, wept when she spoke of her long-lost father."I've finally been reunited with my father after 49 years of never seeing him," she said. "I just found out he heard about my case."Mexico's deputy attorney general informed Martin this week, in the presence of a Canadian embassy official, that the judge in the case has already prepared a 500-page verdict, Martin's longtime friend Deb Tieleman said Thursday."Basically, (a verdict) has been rendered without Brenda having the opportunity to have a proper defence filed," Tieleman, who has Martin's permission to discuss the case with Foreign Affairs, said from Cambridge, Ont."Brenda's lawyer has never even finished answering the charges in the prosecutor's brief."Martin's lawyer Guillermo Cruz has argued that Mexican authorities abused Martin's rights because they used statements she made without a translator.A judge - who on Martin's birthday this week rejected a constitutional challenge to her detention - failed to take that into account, Cruz said."It says Brenda provided a confession before the court," Cruz said of the constitutional ruling, which he planned to appeal."She didn't get the right to get a proper translator, so that's why I believe that this decision is not something according to justice."Canadian embassy officials in Mexico City did not immediately return calls Thursday. The Internet-based scheme that resulted in Martin's arrest was run by her former boss Alyn Waage, formerly of Edmonton, who was convicted in 2005 and is serving a 10-year sentence in an American prison.Waage has backed Martin's assertions of innocence.Conservative politician Rick Norlock, who represents the riding that contains Martin's hometown of Trenton, Ont., was scheduled to meet Foreign Affairs Minister Maxime Bernier on Thursday to discuss the case following a similar meeting with Harper on Wednesday.Former prime minister Paul Martin, who is in Mexico on other business, pressed the country's vice-minister of foreign affairs in Mexico City on the issue this week before flying down to spend about 45 minutes with Brenda Martin - no relation - at the prison Wednesday."He told her that Canadians are worried about her and thinking about her," Paul Martin's spokesman Jim Pimblett said Thursday.Brenda Martin praised the former prime minister as "a wonderful man.""I can't believe he did all that for me, to come down here. ... He said he met with officials in Mexico City and he's doing everything he can to help me."Her distraught mother Marjorie Bletcher, 69, said in an interview she appreciated Paul Martin's efforts, but worried it might be too late to save her daughter, who she said has "gone downhill" in recent weeks."I thank him very much. He was trying to give her hope, but I don't even think that gave her hope," Bletcher said from her home in Trenton."She's got to get out of there soon or she's not going to make it. She's in such a depression. I think she's almost given up. She's already said goodbye to me."Bletcher said she firmly believes that all the signs point to her daughter's innocence, noting she had plenty of opportunity after her boss's arrest to leave Mexico."Maybe she signed something that's incriminated her," said Bletcher, who lost a 34-year-old daughter in 1999 two days after an accident involving an off-road vehicle."But if she had been given an interpreter, she might not have."Ottawa has sent a diplomatic protest note to Mexico. Norlock said Harper was considering the best way to help Martin, but worried about meddling in Mexico's justice system.Tieleman was unimpressed with how Ottawa has handled the case to this point."I don't think they've done enough yet," she said."If Canada cannot defend you under international law, then we need to send a travel warning out ... to every Canadian who leaves the country."

This horrible and despicable woman is a vicious criminal who assisted in the fleasing of literally thousands and thousands of unsuspecting victims of tens of millions of dollars. Rather than "all signs point to her innocence" as the typical knee-jerk, bleeding-heart, left-wing Canadian media and Liberal politicians would like you to believe, in reality "all signs point instead to her absolute GUILT!"

I was born Canadian and now am a proud Mexican citizen, I support 100% the Mexican government's position in this affair! If you whiny, whimpering Canadians stop protecting criminals long enough to grow back your spines, you might just get the real picture!

I say to Mexico, release the woman, put her on the plane back to the big Banana Republic of Canada. I don't believe a word of what they are saying about her. Money laudering is a crime of small beans, it is changing dirty money that has been reported stolen either in Canada, or USA, and so the serial numbers are not good for legal tender purpose; you go to jail if you pass that buck along, because you stole it from someone through prostitution or selling drugs, only blackmarket business causes those bucks to become worthless. Did she have a lot of bucks on her? If she didn't then let her go...mmmmmm what do I have in Mexico? Love you all from Barry Kitchkeesic-Wynn...ssshhh! Go and wake up Wanda, and tell her it is the Bingo Master, and it is time for fun.

USA Immigration agency director stepping down

Posted by Top Ex Ed 8 hrs ago

The leader of the immigration agency that grants citizenship is stepping down after a tenure in which he drastically increased the cost of becoming an American but failed to reduce the time people must wait.

How is that to be. This broad is a Canadian.
like I said they get in trouble of their own making, and well deserved I might add.
I have been to Mexico several times, and am now a part time resident (four months of the year), and have seen that the Americans act a lot more civilized than the Canadians that go to Mexico.
So much for that Canadian good manners, seem with some tequila, stupidity, it goes out the door.
Anyone who has to blame others is weak.

Haven't decided what I want to buy. I have rode bitch for years, so now close to retiring I want my own ride. I was told (because I like power and speed, endurance for long trips) that I should look into FXDL DYNA Lowrider. I was thinking of the typical girls ride (sportster). I will look at both. I am taking riding lessons as soon as the snow melts. I live in Edmonton Alberta Canada. I have a hide my ip address, so it shows that I live in Houston Texas (or whatever ip I choose). I would rather be in the US, two more years and I will make it permanent. I have lots of relatives in the good 'ol US, and sound very American. I was lucky to spend a lot of time with relatives when I was a little girl, along the west coast mostly. I fell in love with the nice warm weather of California. I have been to a few US states mostly the west coast, and Florida, Louisiana. Next year we plan to tour part of the southwest, as much as we can, I want to look for a Harley there, kind of shop around a bit.
My dad use to have an old (I think ) it was a 47 pan head. Use to go out with a Bandito from Sumas Washington who rode one also. Was fun.
Tepic Texas, where is that on the map? My brothers favorite place was Corpus Christi!
I seen another site for petitions for this low life broad's release, and still no signatures, that was yesterday, did not see it today. Guess they finally got the message that the only ones that care are a handful. She does not have much support. I think our prime minister should mind his own business when it comes to affairs outside his country.
Friend of mine has a beautiful Evolution, and is it ever a nice ride.

So take care. I want to see the Alamo! Lol.
And stay in the wind!

Really, I rode with the Bandidos in the Seattle chapter for some time,(note the spelling). The last bike I had was a FXWG, nice ride, but I missed my shovel 1973 and my 1963 pan. before that I had a 1951 serva-car and a 1947 45'.
I would think for a first time rider, a sportster the 1200 is a good bike, of course you know they call them "half Harley's", but they are a little easier to handle
Tepic is in Mexico about 800 miles south of the border in the Sierra Mountains. There is a 73 shovel in San Blas not far from here, but it's not mine.

Pardon my blondness (it is a state of mind, not a hair color). I did not have my glasses on and did not see Mexico. I should have recognize the name. I am running around like a chicken looking after grandchildren. jajaja! I seen some really nice Harley's in Puerto Vallarta in December, they had just opened up a new biker bar, we did not get a chance to check it out, as it opened on our last day there. Forget the name too.
Anyways did you know Bandido George? Jimbo? I am trying to think of the dudes name that looked like Willie same hair too. I think it was Jerry!
You are not far from Puerto Vallarta. We will be in Vallarta in January or February next year for two months. Maybe we could have a cold one.
I will consider your advise on the 'half harley' jajaja! I am a tiny women, so maybe it will be just right for me. Thanks amigo!
Yes I know George very well, guy's got a mind like a trap, remembers everything, El Presidenta, is a good man. It's been years, about 8 now. Sold everything, house, 2 bikes, car and bought a boat, she's sitting in PV now, let me know, if your ever in town.

Roger there was a Bandido George that was killed in Eastern Canada a couple of years ago,(I had not seen George in years, people move on, things change etc) the guy was around 55 they said, and they called him Bandido George, and that he was El presidenta. Tell me it was not him, por favor! I was awfully upset to think this was this wonderful friend and man. I hope it wasn't, but it did look like him, the other guy they mentioned, his name was Tito? Sound familiar. Anyways I had my own memorial in their honor. We had some good times in Sumas, all of us.
I will for sure let you know when we are in town. I take my computer with me, so it will be easy to get in touch without giving out information on here. I have come across a real asshole on here, Iron Ranger. He was making posts that looked like it was me, saying all kinds of sick things. Disgusting pig.
So it must be nice to have a boat in Mexico. You sound like you live life good, that is good to hear.
Buenos Noches amigo!
Probably not, he went to prison just before I left and I assume he may still be there, not sure. I am sure he was not allowed in Canada, same as me, so I doubt it was him. I'm still in touch with my chapter Pres. and he has never mentioned it, so I would say ,no.

No Canadians are worried about this bitch, and no one is concerned about her, we have our own lives to live. She is guilty, let her rot. Paul Martin, mind your own fcking business, and let Mexico serve justice, they now how to deal with scum and criminals far better than any ass kissing liberal in Canada ever will, it was the weak liberal government who took out the death penalty, and it is the weak liberal government who coddles criminals, and makes the victims victims. It was Martins crooked ways and government that got him the boot, so why deal with him, he crawls out from a rock too.

If we let everyone out of jail that used suicide as a way out, we would have no one in jail. Let her do it. She is guilty and the Mexican's know it. Their name is Billy Hunt. She is lying. And really no one in this country cares about her, at least those who have thier own lives to live.
