Does anyone have any recent experiences with moving companies in Toronto? We're moving to Fredericton NB in September and need to find a mover.

You would do well to stay away from RCW.
I made an appt with them a month in advance but on the day of the move it was apparant that they over-booked. Not only did they not show up on the day of move, but they opted not to show up the next day either.
Whichever company you do chose, get an appt in writing.

I would advise you to go with a reputable and long time established mover, "tippet richardson" or "allied" or something along those lines.

I've had a bad experience with 'two small men with big hearts' but that was a local move in Toronto although I do not think that they move cross country.

*** DO NOT USE JOE THE MOVER***

They stole 4 necklaces and 2 bottles of cologne. Save yourself the agony of losing precious family heirlooms. It's not the money, it's the sentimental value that I can never replace. My boyfriend spoke to the owner and he said that his guys wouldn't steal anything. Whatever!! The owner was not willing to help solve the situation so we are going to smear the company name..
PLEASE HELP!!!
PASS ALONG THIS INFO AND POST THE NAME JOE THE MOVER ANYWHERE YOU CAN. THEY ARE NOT REPUTABLE AND WILL NOT STAND BEHIND A CLAIM MADE BY A CUSTOMER. PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM

Another strike against iMove Canada. On moving day, they called to say they would be late which was OKAY until they finally arrived 2 hours later with a truck that was too small & only one man (the other two were apparently on their way, but I never saw them). When I phoned back to the depot I was told they would replace with a larger truck, but they never showed up. Luckily I was able to find an alternate mover.
This move was the worst day of my life. iMove Canada was unprofessional and completely unacceptable. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD ANYONE USE THEM.

GTA Moving uses contractors which is BAD. Their contractors are ol' grandpas which need help in directing and pushing boxes. also do not speak English so that means wasted time. avoid at all costs. they also give a lowball offer and then increase the price at the last minute.

DO NOT USE LOGAN (aka L & G) Movers!!!
Where do I even begin? Well, how about that despite calling the day before to confirm my booking, they somehow managed to "lose" my order. So when I called them asking where they were, in a panic it sounded like he had to send their "back-up" guys. They were 2 hours late, took way too long to move my stuff, cut up my furniture, AND upon handing me my bill, I just about fell over, as the original quote that I was given had all of a sudden doubled .*** BE ADVISED: They charge you "PER STEP" too (up & down and per person), so if you live somewhere with lots of steps, be forewarned!!!!!....not to mention all the other hidden costs and lack of customer service **** Absolutely horrible service. Will never recommend them to anyone.

Has anyone heard of the Toronto movers called, "Best Way to Move?"
I had somebody in for an estimate, which was reasonable, but I cannot find a single review of their company. Thanks!

NEVER use LOGAN MOVERS (L&G).
We moved with them recently in Toronto. They promise competitive hourly rate, no hidden cost, free moving supplies, excellent service, etc, etc.
And then:
- arrive an hour and a half late (despite it being their first move of the day)
- the signature to confirm starting time turns out to be signing a rip-off contract with conditions nobody in sound mind would agree
- take more than 3 hours to load the truck with all the stuff (1bdrm) already waiting next to it, except a few heavy things
- holding all our stuff on the truck demanding us to pay a ridiculous amount of money coming from their 'estimate'- more than $500 for a half-a-block-away move after my husband and I did most of the job (except the heaviest furniture)
- a guy at the 'office' with no address swearing at us and threatening to take all our things to their storage if we don't pay within 10 min.

It actually is very well-organized money squeezing that happens (as I know now thanks to the postings) with so many people. I just can't believe they can get away with such things here in Canada.
At least I'll let people know about the 'company'.

Has anyone used Express Movers? They seem to have the best rate, but I'm worried maybe their rate is toooo cheap.

Don't use proexpress movers!!! Do not use this service unless you want to be scammed. Their advertisement tells you that it is 45 dollars per hour for 2 guys...complete and utter crap...First of all they came an hour later than they were supposed to...Next, we moved most of the stuff out to the truck ourselves. When we arrive at our new house and it was time to settle the bill the guy adds it up to FIVE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY DOLLARS! 45 dollars per hour my foot! They do not mention any of this in the contract, the terms loosely termed as 45 dollars per hour plus labour costs...They also add on all kinds of extra charges such as 70 dollars for last minute moving (they call themselves last minute movers for a reason) without that being listed anywhere on the contract or on the listing. They also refused to provide us a copy of the contract. Honestly they did an hour and a half's worth of work, and that basically just consisted of transporting all the stuff from one place to another, the places being just a 5 minute drive from each other. DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES!!! You will sincerely regret it as we did!

Stay clear of Trans Pro movers, and their slick head-honcho Pablo/Paul/Romulu (or whatever other incarnations he manages to conjure up). Not a very "pro" fessional operation despite the initial image they try to project!

Avoid COMPLETE MOVERS aka LOGAN MOVING AND STORAGE. Management is extremely rude & unprofessional, the workers are slow, and the entire operation is run as a complete SCAM. The movers were an hour late, slow to get the job done, majority of the work was done ourselves including loading the truck, items got damaged & broken, and to top it all off, they charged me for 6 hours worth of work when it only took them 3, therefore doubling the invoice AND they refused to give me my change as I paid cash. When I called management to complain he instantly became irrate & started name calling & swearing, including ending the conversation by telling me to "F" off. Not very professional or mature. PLEASE ADVISE EVERYONE YOU KNOW TO STAY AWAY FROM COMPLETE MOVERS AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!! They will ruin your moving day.

** LOVED JOE THE MOVER ** Sorry to hear about your bad experience, but you really should put valuables in a big sealed box and discreetly label it. Or handle them yourself, move them in a car or something. An open jewelry box is just asking for it! Anyway.... to my point... Joe the movers were great, fast and friendly! They even moved my piano! I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a smooth move!!!! Sept 2008
