Toronto imam preaching 'hate instead of harmony'

Full story: www.nationalpost.com

A Toronto-area imam is under fire for using derogatory language against Jews and Christians, calling for Allah to "destroy" the enemies of Islam from within and calling on God to "damn" the "infidels." The address, given last Friday by Imam Saed Rageah at North York's Abu Huraira Centre and then posted on YouTube, is an attack on those who have been calling for a ban on the niqab and burka, both of which cover the faces of women.

When speeches like this are given.... people wonder why a lot of people do not like Islam.

Why do they preach these type of things in 'western' countries...???? If they do not like 'us' then why dont they move to a country that has over 80% of Muslims there...

Thats what I cant understand.

You have got to admit most people do want peace and harmony ... but you will always have your crack pots in society who are just plain idiots.... who like to preach hate all the time ... even if nothing has been done to them personally by others....

And once again ... If Muslims are against what he says... will they stand up against him and tell him so???? Or will they allow him to keep preaching the same way ?????

It's people like him that need to be deported. And where in the koran does it say that a woman has to wear a burka? Some people will always use religion for a reason to entice hate.

And when people express any fear of Islam, they are called Islamophobic.

I think they are realists.

I guess we should be grateful that the muslims aren't listening to nutjobs like this. Otherwise Canada will have a terrorist problem too.

It sickens me that nutjobs like this find themselves in positions where they are allowed to preach. I think he was venting anger over certain legislation that marginalises muslims and suppresses their rights. But he should've made his complaints and real agenda clear, instead of inciting hatred for entire world religions.

This is not unique to Islam though. There are people like Ted Haggard and John Hagee who incite hatred for Islam to their american audiences. I just hope people are not so sheepish to fall for the lunacy of these fools, muslim and non muslim alike.

People often make the mistake of what constitutes Islamic teachings, and what constitutes mere arab culture.

There are over 1.5 billion muslims in the world. If Islam was truly violent, there would be chaos all over the world. Suicide bombings, plane crashes and nuclear arms races would be out of control.

But since this is not the case, we have to conclude that fear for Islam is not really realistic. Do you kill every spider you see just because you know that a certain african spider is extremely poisonous and fatal?

Let me help you out a bit. There is chaos all over the world.
What wart of this world has not suffered deaths at the hands of Islamic extreamists. Suside bombings are out of control. But there will never be a nuclear arms race will not happen. Because as soon as the extreamists get them all the civilized world will end.

Radical Islam is extremely deadly and Islam is the source.

Uhh no....I'm saying, that I can't believe he'd ever say something like this. In other words, I'm shocked he said this.

Being shocked is not the same as "I can't believe this" and stating "this is something he would never say".

Well he has said it ... maybe not when you have been there.... Does this worry you at all ... that he will and does think along these lines???

He is suppose to be respected as an Iman ... but he wants all infidels destroyed.....

Unfortunately when these things are reported ... they will turn around and deny it.... I have read it too many times.... saying the typical... I have been misquoted and misunderstood.... when it has not ...

Well, when I'm shocked, I say "I can't believe this." I stated, "this is something he would never say" because I never thought he would say such a thing. Now can you stop condemning everything I say?

And like I said, no one has the right to sure anyone. A Muslim must remain a well-wisher of all the non-Muslims of the world.

Nice fantasy if it were remotely reality. But it is not reality the Qu'ran its self alone is evidence of that.
