Got a call from Best Price Movers of Toronto the other day. For the thousandth time, literally. They have been hammering my voice mail weekly, bi-weekly even...for years. Called to be taken off their calling list, it makes no difference. They use robo dialers and spam their wares en masse.
This time I called to complain again and the lady told me to "have a nice day, a$8hole!". Unbelievable. I get harassed by them incessantly and I call to complain and they spew out the foul language. How are these guys (how is this business) allowed to operate and to spam the living daylights out of people's voice mails like this? It is a huge mystery and black eye to the city, actually.
And I heard their moving service is hideous, although I can never understand how any of their phone spam translates into business. Moving is a serious event and people that do (or should do!) their due diligence would realize in a heartbeat that Best Price Movers are infamous. If you are even remotely considering using this abomination of a company, please check the BBB, Best Price Movers also have an unsatisfactory record and a huge number of complaints on record. The CRTC is toothless.
They also call themselves MacTavish/McTavish (sp?) Logistics Limited. And by the way when you call they say "to speak to a wise person, press...". What a blooming joke!

I don't understand how people like the above item are allowed to spew out negative remarks about a company they have never even used. Just because you don't like telemarketers, does not justify you bad mouthing Best Price Movers or anyone else unless you personally have used their services. The complaints you refer to at the BBB are from people like you who don't like telemarketers NOT PEOPLE WHO PAY FOR A SERVICE - I am a telemarketer for a window company and have used Best Price Movers 4 times & I have had very good service. There is no need to be rude to telemarketers - at least they are a productive member of society and not living on welfare!

Telemarketers tend to harass, not just sell products. How many times do you have to tell them to stop calling before they actually listen. It's OK to bad mouth the telemarketing business because they pressure sell, are forceful and do not listen. When I say "No, I don't want what you are selling and please don't call me again," what does that mean? They may be a productive member of society, possibly not living on welfare, but they are a parasite, just like a cockroach.

We used BestPrice Movers today and got completely ripped off!! During our phone conversation "Anne" quoted us $660 for the move. When the movers got here, they said it would tak 8 hours + 1 hour driving time. Within minutes the price rose to $800. The movers were extrememly rude and slow as they attemoted to "stretch" teh movingg time to 8 hours. In the end they left more than half of our furniture in the garage because we were not "fast enough" in giving them their last $100. They wanted to get paid up front before they finished the job. We called the company to complain about the service and the "manager" said his worker Paul didn't feel like working anymore and he would send someone else. No one ever showed up. On top of that, they were the slowest moving company we have ever used. They took cigarette breaks every 15 minutes and basically walked away with $700 and only did half the job. Also, we paid for a 24' truck, but they sent an 18' truck and claimed it was 24 feet. This was the worst experience ever. DO NOT EVER HIRE THIS COMPANY!!

I agree 100%. They now call themselves "The Moving Company" (when you call them it is McTavish Logistics)and the recorded message is "HI, this is Anna from the moving company ..." They have called me 1 or 2 times per week for months. I just called them (no one answered in person-surprise surprise) and left a message for them to stop calling my house. Then I found this site on the internet. It looks like the idiots at "The Moving Company" will not be taking my name off of their calling list. My advice to anyone considering using this company is simple ... don't.

They keep calling here too. Telemarketers are one thing, but they use the automated message, so they don't even have to make the effort to call. I tried calling to get my number removed, and the woman that answered the phone just hung up. I kept trying, and eventually she said she would take the number off, but I doubt it will be done.
Seems like a completely scummy company.

Same experience here too with calls from "Anna at the moving company". The use of automated dialers with recorded annoucements is against CRTC regulations (except for emergency/public service). So @Sharon, what they are doing is not telemarketing, it is illegal abuse. They also hide their callerID, which is another no-no. I reported the calls to Bell, but they don't care (money talks, even when the CRTC says shut up). These 'movers' are obviously scammers, who are just a couple of boxes and a brain short of being organized criminals - I would not go near their services. Ever.

We did hire Anna and her moving company and I can and will be rude about them because I actually did use their service...or attempted to. We came to an agreement over a month ago - me pregnant with two senior parents moving our home several blocks in the same area. On the night before we call to confirm everything is going well and they tell us our assigned movers would be getting in late (3am) so they will be a little later than the scheduled 8am move. Another call at 10:30am next morning for an ETA, told they'll still be a little late. Another call to them at 1:30pm, told they had two breakdowns, we are first on the list for next available truck. Another call at 4:30pm (got someone other than Anna) and told they were not coming that we were expected to find another company on the busiest weekend of the year with the house closing on that very date. Another call into "Anna" and she tried saying the office was closed and that this was an answering service... when I tried to ask why she waited until this time to tell us no one was coming she hung up on me then suddenly my phone calls would not be picked up. My brother called to harass and suddenly the office is open. Today I called to finally ask her again what the deal was and their service no longer accepts calls from blocked numbers - I used this very work phone to call initially to make the agreement. Wonder how many more people they screwed over...anyone know if they have an office or whom to legitimately complain to???

I so tired of 'Anna'. I bought an outdialer fax to phone 90 times a day and send a fax to them.
Too bad. I'm fed-up enough and, sadly, it's revenge.
No laws. Too bad. Only Victims. I'm in transportation where the owners are responsible. Is there licencing for these 'humans'? There should be and it should be revoked and have them restricted from entry.

I wish there was a way to irritate Anna from the moving company as much as she irritates me! I constantly get automated calls from them. We are the victims and there is nothing we can do to stop it! My phone is for my personal use, not for them to constantly call using a "robot". All the effort is on my part and I would never use their service EVER!

I called "Anna" today, as I finally got fed up with these calls.

She hung up on me when I complained!

What a rude woman. I never have been hung up on by a business in my life - and all I said is I would like them to stop with the stupid telemarketing to my phones at home.

My blood is boiling...

I've contacted Fred Silverman of "Silverman Helps/City TV". I'm hoping he can give us some advice as to how we can do something about this invasion of privacy. I would suggest that if Automate Dialers were illegal it would solve the problem. I'll forward any helpful info he offers.

There was a time,(or so I've heard) when you could get your botherinlaw to call his friend, Vinnie, who could arrange to have someone make them an offer they couldn't refuse, personally. Problem is that as we progress as a society the new rules tend to protect the criminal and not the victim.....and low life like "Anna" et al know the system protects them and their deception.
We have lost our right to an "equalizer"......... too bad.
But when the revolution comes they will be the first to loose their heads :)
