She could have said SORRY to the people of the land before Australia was known to be a British colony for past injustices perpetrated against the then and after population by the British Empire.

Did the Normans apologise to the Anglo-Saxons ?
If not, should the Queen do this ? Or, was the Queen born afterwards ?

Did the native Australian tribes apologise to each other for warring against one another pre-Europeanisation? If not, should there be apologies ? It was a long time ago.

I think Italian Berlusconi should apologise to UK for when the Romans attacked/conquered the Britons from after 43 BC.

Angela Merkel should apologise to UK, for when the Germanic Anglo-Saxons invaded Britain in the 9th century largely extinguishing the language and culture of the native Britons.

King 'Saud bin Abdul-Aziz bin Abdul-Rahman bin Faisal bin Turki bin Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Saud'(no kidding, that's his full name!) should apologise on behalf of Saudi Arabia for the Arabs invading and Islamifying non-Arabic Egypt in the 7th-Century.

I know, i know, but, I made a typo while simultaneously watching Beowulf and running around outside naked worhipping Woden. But, who cares, the average loony human these days thinks all global naughtiness kicked off with the more recent British Empire.

Anyway, Prime Minister Kenny, on behalf of the Irish, should apologise for the Gaels for their non-UN-approved invasion and takeover of the SW pre-Scotland region around the 5th Century BC.

Why is is only Australians who are being pilloried for taking over another land?

Why is it only Australians who are required to wallow in cringing guilt?

Why is it only Australians of whom compensation is demanded?

Why is it only Australians who are required to say "sorry"?

Why are all these things demanded by outsiders who have never set foot in Australia and wouldn't have a clue?

Throughout history countries have been overrun, and countries have invaded other countries. Why the mad scramble to make Australia seem so different?

The only difference was that our forebears "invaded" INVOLUNTARILY! They were abducted and dumped here!

All those armchair critics languishing in invaded lands of their own can butt out, mind their own business, and tidy up their own transgressions.

1. australia makes an excellent target because of the wap and because it was the last country settled by a colonial power I think, but americans are in much the same position re slavery.

2. australians should take absolutely no notice of any foreigner who thinks we should wallow in guilt for the wrongdoings of some of our ancestors. I know I don't.

3. australia is also the object of envy by many people from countries and cultures that have had centuries to get it right and create societies worth living in and have failed miserably, eg, the middle east - they are quite aware that the most liveable countries on earth are western countries and they just hate it. so of course they gibber on about their ancient cultures, religions, customs etc etc etc - its all they've got but it doesnt matter a damn if you cant feed your family and have no hope of your situation ever changing.

unless you emigrate to a western country, of course ....

Trouble is that a bunch of white-hating ignorant no-necks calling themselves the UN are goading our detractors on. They hope to portray Australia as under-deserving and over-privileged ... and therefore morally obliged to accept the Tsunami of immigrants that our critics want to displace from their own lands. It's all self-serving image-manufacture in service of an agenda they will never admit to, and hope that we're too dumb to notice.

The Queen can't even control what's going on in her own country which is fast going down the gurgler and is nothing more than a token figure head for Australia.

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Sagittarius

You're wearing rose-tinted glasses today, especially when you look at some of the special people in your life. Right now you only want to see their good points and you'll deliberately turn a blind eye to any faults that might be on show. If you can escape from the real world for a day with you-know-who you'll have a marvelously romantic and emotional time together. But do your best to come back to earth tomorrow.
