Full story: Vancouver Television

The weathered, beret-wearing veteran is a constant image on Remembrance Day. Proud elderly men and women, their chests adorned with long rows of medals, will gather at cenotaphs across the country this Nov.

Canada has ignored the problem.

Warriors come back from combat without the proper support, he says.

This is all too sad, that is why it;s been a dream of mines to one day open a assosted living facility to help take care of these vets. They should be able to eat a hot meal, bathe and live nice. One day this dream will come to pass. Until then let's pray for these vets. And maybe now that we have a new president, someone may care enough to even offer grants to people like me who want to help.

Sometimes this day is referred to as Death and Duty Day.

Canada calls it Remembrance Day, and

in other parts of the world it's referred to as Armistice Day.

On our shores we celebrate it as Veterans Day,

an American holiday remembering those who have died bearing arms in the name of liberty and

in pursuit of freedoms,

doing their duty for God and to Country.

When President Wilson first proclaimed this day to be a legal holiday in this country he called it '

A day dedicated to the cause of world peace ...'

You would think that part of the $700/$850 million bailout money could be used to bailout the homeless veterans. I know several veterans who have nice homes and making good money get up to $300.00 after hurricane Gustav. Of course the VA says they know nothing about this. I know of no homeless vet who got any money!!!!

I have a solution to all of our veteran "issues" and then some. Disban the CBC (with an annual budget in excess of $1 Billion taxpayer dollars and sitting on over $34 Billion in taxpayer owned infrastructure) and immediately put in trust $100 million dollars of that budget for the puchasing of "veterans housing" outside of Canada's 10 major cities spread throughout the country. Put another $100 million in trust for operating costs as a one time dispersment with an annual budget of $50 million for the next 10 years with annual reviews.

Why would you do that? Veterinarians make a good salary. They don't need handouts. It is war veterans that the people mean. Maybe try looking up the words in a dictionary. English is such a difficult language to learn and understand. All the best to you in your quest for greater understanding and literacy.

Daily Horoscope for December 12

Aquarius

Ring a friend for a quick chat and you could still be on the phone an hour later, while this person yaks away non-stop with no signs of coming to a halt. It will be the same story if you see someone face to face, because they'll be garrulous in the extreme. Mind you, the same could be said of you, even though you may not be aware that you're hogging the conversational limelight.
