(2) CREDENTIALS ARE FOR SALE

Last year, a young Chinese couple from Markham, Ontario was acquitted (on a technicality) of counterfeiting hundreds of passports, university degrees and government documents. They had 3 Chinese student accomplices. Their case revives the accusation that has been made in the past that the documents some immigrants present in Canada are fraudulent.

Immigration industry representatives and their political puppets like to tell us sad stories of innocent immigrants who suffer from delayed recognition of their credentials. That is probably true in some cases. The larger truth is that 80% of the 250,000 regular immigrants who come to Canada every year do not have to meet any points requirements by showing credentials. That's because most don't have any credentials---contrary to what immigration lawyers and advocates like to tell Canadians !!

This counterfeiting story should remind the accreditation agencies in Canada that there is ample justification for checking credentials very carefully. These agencies should not allow themselves to be stampeded by hack politicians who want to curry favour with some ethnic group.
