Hi, My husband are looking to move to Kelowna, BC, from Saint John, NB. We have never been to Kelowna, but it looks like a safe city to live in, and closer to home. Can anybody tell me which parts of the city is safe? And if they know of any good landlords to rent off of? Thx,^_^

Sonia wrote: Is it a safe place to raise a family?:S It was!!...Don't move here if unless you have lots of cash. Trust me I've been here for almost 30 years, it's expensive and not the best place to raise a family as far as I am concerned. My opinion is based on experience first hand and I am glad I grew up in this city before it became what it is! Cheers!!!

Kelowna is basically safe & a nice place to live.. Just stay away from the Garner rd area there is a known stalker & trouble maker that just moved from Hope B.C. who just stalks people on line or in life.. John Moody of Garner rd just stay away from that area & U should do fine.. good luck ... we're working at warning folks before anyone gets hurt by him..

Sonia.I was born and raised in kelowna bc....funny thing is my family and i are hoping to move to new brunswick within the year.Kelowna WAS a nice place to live.As for raising children...no,not a good place.First of all there is absolutly nothing here to do for children. The cost of living is ridiculous! If you buy a house here youll be spending about a half of million dollars on a house that is actually a dump! The only good thing about kelowna is the weather and scenery. The people suck....sure there are nice people...but a good majority are very arrogant and everyone seems like they are to busy trying to outdo one another. Our city is starting to see alot more gang activity, drug use and homlessness! I would really do some research before coming out here....i think youd be dissapointed!Id stay where you are....Id rather be cold and have a long winter than raise my children here!

Kelowna is much safer.. I have two Moffices .. mobile offices that contain everything from studio.. computors.. cell phones along with other unique features .. I love my "moffices" everyone wants to buy one once they be seen.. I also have a photo of it on the Kelowna Topix forum photo shots .. enjoy my other photo's also about the Okanagan .. 4,000 years ago it is at "flickr" dreamwalkersworld ... and enjoy Kelowna it is one of the greatest places to live No doubts .. eh?

My family and I were thinking about moving to Kelowna. I have read pretty much all the comments, and i thought that Kelowna is a very nice, and safe place to live, so those cooments are nothing I expected them to be! So now I am torn between moving, and maybe considering going somewhere else.
What would be the best choice for me and my two kids that are both in hightschool?

I don't disagree that there are some undesirables in Kelowna. But try and find a town/city where there are none! I moved my family here from Vancouver 11 years ago and have never looked back. There are many great areas. What I would suggest is to rent a summer vacation place for the fall/winter and get the "lay of the land". All the ranting about the pedophile and it turns out he actually doesn't live here. Pedophiles are the scum of the earth and they live in the maritimes as well. I would say the biggest draw back from moving here is the lack of jobs paying $60,000 to $90,000. I would say the best reason to move here would be the weather and outdoor recreation. Cheers

My wife and I are considering moving to Kelowna as well. I'm really surprised at the reaction to your move as most I've talked to really love Kelowna.

Just outside of kelowna in lake country it's a nice area but expensive. It's between kelowna and Vernon and about 15-20 minutes from each

Have lived in Kelowna for many years. I love the weather however the biggest downfall here is that there is nothing to do here. If your into the outdoors and watersports sure then there's lots for you. But as for events, festivals and half decent attractions, well there's not alot to choose from. The city council here have pretty much kobboshed anything fun (no fun kelowna) as it has been called. After dark this town dies quite quickly. Don't be fooled by the attraction of the lake cause that's all we got folks. Great place to come for the weekend to go on the lake but any longer then that, i suggest you bring a book cause this town is boring as hell. They advertise the great beaches, HA!!! very little beach space here so i would suggest penticton. The beaches there are much cleaner and the entire lakefront has not been overtaken by houses and ugly condos like kelowna.

Kelowna has it's problems (like anywhere on earth), but believe me, short of ending up on a couple of unsavoury streets, globally, it's a safe and friendly city, if not a little on the expensive side. Regards.
