It is sad when a churchman falls..let us never forget by the grace of God we are spared by such a plight. Therefore let us remember that forgiveness is very important we must forgive Bishop Lahey.Jean Vanier once spoke about the human condition which is we fall we rise. Let pray for Bishop Lahey that he will ask forgiveness knowing well Our heavenly has already forgiven him...so should we. Pax vobis.

God may have already forgiven him but he will still spend eternity in hell for his deeds.

your theology is warped and contrary to Biblical and Church teaching...if God has forgiven him why would he be sentenced to hell? Your view is not sound when you make statements like this. When did God die and make you the judge.Always remember that Christ scribbled in the sand while the accuser were condemning.
Pax Vobis.

Your logic makes not sense.

If God forgives Lahey and everyone else, then there is no purpose for hell if no one will be going.

So you are saying that Hell is NOT needed because God already forgives everyone?

Imagine that !

I am no ones Judge, I am their Judgment.

Wow dude you need to do some theology..so what was the purpose of redemption if that is the case. God does not want us to perish. The Hebrew Testament avows to that.God does not want the sinner to perish but that he repents and is forgiven. Hell is for those who die unrepentant. And it is not God that sends us their but our unwillingness to repent and forgive. God's hand is always outstretched to receive us back.Though our sins be as red as scarlet the H.T. states they will be made white as wool. Wow the mercy of God Our loving and compassionate Father He loves to forgive us if only we approach Him with a sincere and repentant heart.
If you are the judgment of others then I would dare say you are in bad standing as a Christian and as a catholic. My God who sent his Son to redeem us is not a vindictive God He is a loving and forgiving Father.Thank Him for that, am troubled with your views it is not upright teaching...and especially theological wrong.
Praise be the Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ the Father of mercy who forgives all our sins.
AMEN.

Have YOU forgotten "Judge not lest ye be Judged"?

Sounds like a religious hypocrite to me.

It is not the role of the victims, the victim's families or friends or the children that are raised by the victims to 'forgive' priests who have abused or contributed to the abuse of children.

Silly and trite reminders to judge lest not ye be judged etc do not acknowledge the pain that has been inflicted. If a parent throws a pot of scalding water on a child we do not tell the child, the other parent, it's siblings etc not to judge lest they be judged.Their concern becomes legitimately directed toward the victim.

If the perpetrator wants to be forgiven it is possible that it may never be able to be done through the victim. Kind of like where AA instructs its members to make amends but not if it will result in more discomfort for the victim. In doing so the perpetrator would only be interested in their salvation.

While forgiveness might be liberating and a healthy state to arrive it is absolutely not for anyone but the victim to choose that route for them.

I am grossed out that this priest disappeared for a few days knowing that he was wanted. This has been a habit out that way. When priests have the law on their backs they are off to a different province or state until it suits them to face the law.

sorry people but cannot be apart of this discussion any longer because you forget and reject the fundamental law of mercy and forgiveness that God imparts to us. He sent His son to redeem us not condemn us other wise His death is fraught. Peace and joy in the risen Lord.

you sure are a sorry sight for a Christian when did God die and make you judge..I feel sorry for your warped unchristian attitude..know wonder people leave the Christian faith and the Catholic Church for all the unforgiveness..you best meditate on what Christ said to the women caught in sin when all those who accused her had left women is there no one to condemn you...no one Lord then go and sin no more.
Blessed be the Father of mercy who forgives and has mercy.
What I want was mercy not sacrifice we are told in the Hebrew testament..we best do the same.
adios I best leave you unliteral in Christian belief and sound theology.

Forgive HELL. That's not up to you. If you think it's up to you you. should have your kid molested/photos taken/used ect by one of the G-D-priests/bishops. As a rule they are nothing but a bunch of rotten perverts. This type thing is worldwide and they should all be locked up.

Hey, what happened I thought you had to leave this site. I thought we said good-bye.

It is rather shoddy to pretend that you are God saying to your son,"You sure are a sorry sight for a Christian when did (I) God die and make you judge...)

Something tells me that you are speaking out of turn and putting words in the Big Guy's mouth.

Don't you think God is entirely capable of speaking for himself and dealing with his children. You are just like a sibling who thinks that they are the boss of the house when mom and dad are out but keeps acting that way when they return because God is always here watching all of you. That means you too, so, go clean your house.

Welcome back again Neil...

Our number one job as parents, and adults is to protect the young children from scum like this. PERIOD.

You may shirk that responsibility, and no doubt will some time be judged for that.

The rest of us will work to make life a 'Hell on Earth' for those that abuse children.

How many more down in that area are involved?

If we succeed , then maybe Lahey and others like him with save us all a trial and do what Judas before him did.

I am more than willing to burn in 'so called ' Hell, if I can save or just spare one child.
