Republic Services under bids current provider Waste Management by 50% and half of the price previously bid by Republic on Northeast Indiana contract.
This trend to keep independent haulers from gaining a foothold in the market could become a significant drag on their earnings as other municipalities get wind of it and demand these prices. In addition, the predatory nature of this pricing could bring Justice Department scrutiny back on them at a time when they have just recently cleared the Justice approvals in Allied merger. |

Republic Services has become an arrogant Goliath bent on bullying its customers and its competition. Recent efforts in Northeast Indiana appear to have included: threatening to sue Ciy of Fort Wayne because they were 10% higher than best bid and were going to lose large contract, threatening to demand suppliers not to sell trucks to competitors, having their attorney interfere with School Board bid where he was on school board, threatening another firm not to hire personnel involved with independent hauler, having their attorney who is council for township trustee rally township citizens against an independently owned transfer station to thwart competition. This is how Republic Services really operates. The dirty truth is Goliath is still a bully and an unethical operator.
