Support the Trucker Strike 2008

For those of us who are not truckers, we do fill up our personal vehicles at the tanks, let us know what we can do to help - if there are days we should not fill up, let us know and it is a done deal - we are united!

Not a trucker but a carpenter that needs truckers to haul my supplies. You guys GO FOR IT you can make a huge difference you can shut down the country. The workers in this country can be easly seen they are the ones not wearing lots of fancy clothes simple things. I call them the less-ons. the ones that wear the suits and coats and hats...the ones that want to run everything I call them the mor-ons..,. time to wake them up to what makes this counry really go.....

Send this announcement to all the media. Help us help the trucker and every citizen in this country....by getting this word out. This is important.

April 28, 2008 - convoy to Washington DC to protest the insane cost of fuel and everything that impacts. Take oil off of Wall Street! So far, 28 states are involved. Refuse to do business with EXXON/MOBILE. today
Do not buy their gas or diesel.
Do not use their convenience stores.
Do not deliver to them.
Do not accept employment from them.
Return their credit cards with a message that their products are to expensive.

A selective boycott can be effective if enough people participate.
When their gas evaporates in the storage tanks and the milk sours in the convenience store refrigerators THEY WILL LISTEN or their replacements will.

When or if EXXON/MOBILE is gone choose the next largest oil company and continue until the hundred million dollar executives get the idea that consumers can and will control the market place! A golden parachute is to heavy to break a fall.

I support you truckers. You are the back bone of this country. I think some said if all trucks stoped it would take like 16 hours for the country to shut down

Today a trucker friend call me in Virginia and he was in Alabama and said he was not hearing anything on the the big highways in the South about a truckers shutdown this coming week. 5-5-2008.
I told him to get the word out as he comes back to Virginia on Friday & Sat.
Call your friends in the South and make them aware of Mondays activities. Take off FISHING.

A CALL TO FELLOW TRUCKERS
The Trucking Industry and truck drivers have always been one of the main elements of contemporary American culture and folklore. These manly guys, hard working and proud of their country and their work, were always American heroes. Even TV shows like Route 66, countless Hollywood movies, and books like “On the Road” showed professional trucker drivers as positive figures making up the fabric of American daily life.
The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA) states that there were about 390,000 independent truckers in America (see http://www.landlinemag.com/Special_Reports/20... ). There were ! In the first quarter of 2008, there are 42,000 fewer independent truckers. These 42,000 were destroyed by the continuously increasing price of fuel, primarily diesel. Calculate, just how few quarters it will take to destroy all of them ! What do these people have left to be proud of ? They worked hard all of their lives and now they have been discarded like a used pair of sneakers. And, don’t forget their work takes a lot more responsibility and qualifications than work at McDonalds. Also, these people paid tremendous taxes, and now after all this sacrifice they are thrown out on the street !
Maybe this doesn’t concern you because you have another type of business or are on a government job, but don’t forget, BECAUSE OF TRUCKERS’ ECONOMIC SACRIFICES THE PRICES OF GOODS IN STORES IS NOT RISING AS FAST AS THEY COULD BE ! BUT WHEN THE TRUCKING TRANSPORTATION INDUSTRY IS RUINED AND THERE IS NO ONE LEFT TO DELIVER PRODUCTS, THEN WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE PRICE OF GOODS FOR EVERYONE ?
Everyone is talking about the economic crisis, but who has heard about a crisis with the oil companies ? Should their interests and ambitions be put above those of the American people and America itself ? Who in these companies, who are ruining the lives of working Americans, are suffering personally ? Think about this. And, don’t expect that the 350 truckers who drove to Washington, D.C. at their own expense, will solve your problems. At this critical moment for independent truckers, look what the OOIDA, nominally the representative organization for 162,226 members, is spending their time and resources on. Look on http://www.ooida.com and press the left bottom most banner which will take you to http://www.specialolympics.org/Special+Olympi... , the organization of the World’s Largest Truck Convoy to raise money for the Special Olympics. To participate truckers SIMPLY DONATE A $100 ENTRY FEE ! Who is donating even $1 to help truckers who are going broke by the tens of thousands every quarter, not even their own organization ?!
At this very moment, not only 42,000 truckers went bankrupt but with their families, hundreds of thousand of people are affected and may be penniless. To add insult to injury, they don’t even qualify for food stamps and Medicaid because an owner-operator owns a truck and therefore does not qualify for this government aid, a system which was funded by their taxes for all the years they were able to make a living.
The message is DEPEND ONLY ON YOURSELVES ! UNFORTUNATELY, NO ONE OUT THERE IS GOING TO HELP YOU !

Thank you trucker 2008 - not many see the big picture that us trucking families face - most people can be laid off from their jobs and expect unemployment at least for a time - not us.

So what is the choice - continue at all costs or fold and become another family in a homeless shelter (I know that is a bit drastic, but for some that WILL be the reality).

I, however, do believe that there is still hope, because if I let go of that it is a very dismal picture that I see. And that is why the 350 of us went to Washington. We want to help each other, we want to make a difference, we do not want to give up, go under, and fade into absolvency.

We have a voice and if we speak loudly and clearly just maybe someone will decide that ALL Americans are created equal.

Please do not give up, please join in our fight for every single American. This is not only about diesel prices, but about everything that relies on being transported in this country.

Not Gonna Happen! The U.S. Government is not going to pay attention to this strike.

Not enough people interested in supporting the strike.

For it to properly work all would have to settle for a Nation Wide Walk Out and Boycott the purchase of any petroleum product in the USA!

Remember the General Strikes in Poland in the 1980's..........follow some of their tactics and see how it goes..........
if you don't succeed the first time continue until one does achieve the goal!

I bought a bird feeder. I hung
it on my back porch and filled
it with seed. What a beauty of
a bird feeder it is, as I filled it
lovingly with seed. Within a
week we had hundreds of birds
taking advantage of the
continuous flow of free and
easily accessible food.

But then the birds started
building nests in the boards
of the patio, above the table,
and next to the barbecue.

Then came the poop. It was
everywhere: on the patio tile,
the chairs, the table .
everywhere!

Then some of the birds
turned mean. They would
dive bomb me and try to
peck me even though I had
fed them out of my own
pocket.

And others birds were
boisterous and loud. They
sat on the feeder and
squawked and screamed at
all hours of the day and night
and demanded that I fill it
when it got low on food.

After a while, I couldn't even
sit on my own back porch
anymore. So I took down the
bird feeder and in three days
the birds were gone. I cleaned
up their mess and took down
the many nests they had built
all over the patio.

Soon, the back yard was like
it used to be.... quiet, serene
and no one demanding their
rights to a free meal.

Now let's see.
Our government gives out
free food, subsidized housing,
free medical care, and free
education and allows anyone
born here to be an automatic
citizen.

Then the illegals came by the
tens of thousands. Suddenly
our taxes went up to pay for
free services; small apartments
are housing 5 families; you
have to wait 6 hours to be seen
by an emergency room doctor;
your child's 2nd grade class is
behind other schools because
over half the class doesn't speak
English.

Corn Flakes now come in a
bilingual box; I have to
'press one' to hear my bank
talk to me in English, and
people waving flags other
than 'Old Glory' are
squawking and screaming
in the streets, demanding
more rights and free liberties.

Just my opinion, but maybe
it's time for the government
to take down the bird feeder.
If you agree, pass it on; if not,
continue cleaning up the poop!

What Truckers Strike 2008? Here we are, May 5, 2008. Isn't this supposed to be the "BIG SHUTDOWN/STRIKE" phase III? I guess someone forgot to tell the biggest part of the Truck Drivers, cause what I saw today wasn't any different than any other day. Business as usual. Boy, Don't we all look stupid???
