Then post here what Swift has done Wrong to you. swift has done recalls on the cdl's of peoples who dont work for them any more. if you are truely a good drive and recieved a cdl at the driving academy in memphis from 2005 til 2008 you just lost your job. Truck driving is not that great of a job anyway but i want what I rightfully earned. I want be turing in my cdl for some rumors that got started while my neighbor who just tore up his truck, got laid off for three days and recieved another one keep his for whatever reason. I received the same letter about re-testing in my own state. At the time, I was an Owner Operator. They made me give up my truck and now they are threating to report this to credit agencies impacting my credit in a negative way. I have obtained a lawyer. Any one looking, 6106475027.

Anyone defending SWIFT citing how wonderful the company is, is a toady of that place... Anyone citing the grey line between the reasonable facsimile of fairness SWIFT has in its system and the errors it continues to WEASEL its way across and on to the backs of its drivers is still a servile betrayer of freedom...
We people in these United States have a right to fair treatment under the law and when a MEGA-Corporation decides to to hold so much sway as to make, even our fellow common person seek avenues to suck the rest of us into a feudal servitude, we suckers must act with all bravery and see to it that there is no room despotism..
As for the grey line... Please, to all whom are victims against the little guy, do not resort to playing the game of acceptable wrong we can commit on the road...
We take that upon ourselves... But as for SWIFT and its responsiblity for us all, it should exercise fair practice when it comes to making the work environment a place where we can both, respect the law and not have the authority of position on SWIFTS part to exercise the law for the sake of crushing us unfairly...
SWIFT does not care about anyone who does not kiss its rear... That is the bottom line.
And each word in absolute support of SWIFT are words embeadded in just such a thing... Weather known or unknown to the person who's lips are so poised...
I think SWIFT has the potential to be a better business but... So may have been wronged by this corporation, I will not deny the argument of others against it until I am absolutely convinced that there was some other, more reasonable explination...
But SWIFT is a business familiar with how to manipulate laws... Searching for the truth is a job in its self... SWIFT is not to be toyed with...
This is why, all onus to SWIFT must be applied. The little guy cannot compete with such a large entity...
Good luck to whomever it is has been found on the other side of being a free human being, at the chocking hands of this monstrosity called,
SWIFT TRANSPORTATION...
Sincerely, Sypher

I had 16 years and 2months in Law Enforcement, 30 years Bounty Hunting and 3 years in the United States Army. I do not take sxxt from anybody. Certainly not dishonest people like those at Swift. <quoted text> Holey crap! This guy sure likes to drop the names of well known Government agency's. I am sure you have single handedly dropped this company to their knees, ahd will be at the helm very soon. I do not support Swift nor am i an interested party but i like reading fiction. If this guy's work history is as he claims he would be almost 70...bout time to retire and enjoy what you have worked for...Just saying. One more thing, i have 25 plus years in the Maintenance side of the trucking industry so i am well versed about what i say.

Good management people and good jobs. I have been on the Edwardsville/Phonex shuttle for five years. I will put up my safety record and those who drive on this shuttle with that of any ohter in the nation. The people that I work with in the office are among the best in the company. Sure I will not deny that there are those who fall short of expectaions. This is a training company and is hiriing new drivers. I have always told people it is a great company to start out with and then if you want to move on then do so. But there are some great people who work for this company and I will always defend them and myself.

I am currently scheduled to begin cdl training with Swift in Tenn. What can I expect? I hear a lot of good and a lot of bad about Swift. More good though. Is the training good training? I really want to be successful with this new career move. I think I will do just fine especially with the propoer training.

I believe that how successful you are with any company has to do with attitude. If you go into it with a good attitude then things ought to work out for you. I will say this however, when you go to the terminals and talk to drivers you will soon find that there are those who will put down the comapny no matter what. There are others who will sing the companies parises all day long. Listen to all of them not to find out what they think of the company but what they are doing. There are many different divions within the company. Those that are happisest have found what works for them have found where they want to be. I drove the shuttle for five years and enjoyed it. Most people do not even know wtat the shuttle is let alone what it does. Good luck and drive safe.

I've been driving for Swift for nearly 5 years now. There's an awful lot to say about the company - both good and bad. Checking this thread from time to time, I've noticed there haven't been very many recent comments worth reading. What I'd like to see is intelligent discussion by Swift drivers who have been working hard for - and dealing honestly with - the company as loyal employees who don't mind sharing their thoughts without getting insulting or "whiney." If you happen to be dissatisfied with Swift, can you explain it clearly without false embellishment, exaggeration or rumor? I've got my complaints, sure enough, but the drivers I speak with when I'm out on the road don't see things the same way I do. I still like to hear what they have to say, though. Because the company is so large and spread across the country, it can be a different story driving for Swift out of, say, California than it is out of Idaho or New Jersey.(I personally drive out of Colorado.) Anybody out there care to have serious discussion about Swift Transportation? Don't bother responding if you cannot write clearly and understandably -- or if you haven't been driving for awhile. I don't mean to sound like a snob, but honestly, there are too many dopey or lazy drivers out on the road employed by Swift that I myself wouldn't hire. Thanks, folks.

I am no longer with the company, however that is of my own doing and nothing against Swift. I drove on the shuttle from Kingman, Kansas to Dahart, Texas and back. I was out the Edwardsville terminal. I to had my petty complaints but over all the company treated me well. The major thngs that I know that made it a positve expernence for me was no 1 my own attitude, and no 2 the driver managers that I worked for. Having a good driver manager is critical to how you precive the comapnay and how you believe you are being treated. My driver manager was Tracie Thoen, she has snice gotten married and I do not know her married name but she always tried to take care of problems and always was willing to listen. I also worked with Allan on the shuttle and remember joking around with him about KU basketball and football. Dan Johnson the Fleet Manager was always fair with me and willing to listen. We did not always agree but he always listened. These three were the people that I worked with closely and will always have fond memories of.

I've been driving for 9.5 years now, over 8 years with the same company, all oil field driving. Lots of mud, snow and rain in the winter here in NW New Mexico. I've seen a lot of drivers come and go and have dealt with whiners just like everyone else. As the company's Driver Trainer (not to get a CDL but licensed drivers) for about 6 years, I can tell pretty quick how a driver is going to do both in the job and driving. I've been in 1 situation of almost going off the road, granted it was only about a 25' drop but it would have been onto boulders and the trailer would have landed on top of me.....so....needles to say I would have been jacked up or dead.
After 9.5 years in the "patch", I'm looking forward to the opportunity to see for MYSELF how working for SWIFT can be for me. OTR is going to be different from my everyday driving and I'll take it 1 day at a time 1 load at a time.
For all of you out there bashing SWIFT all I can say is.....come to Farmington NM and give the oil field a try. There are plenty of companies here that will give you a try and I'd really like to see how many of you can actually make it. I got my CDL at 40, have worked in the patch for over 9 years and I'm still going strong.

I HAVE NOTHING GOOD TO SAY ABOUT "SWIFT", 40YRS IN THIS BUSINESS "SWIFT" IS ONE OF THE "WORST"!!!!!!!!!! Man you are so misguided! If you did work for Swift you would know how every day there is some kind of safety message coming over the qualcomm, posters all over the walls, the company news letters, on the internet page, and you have to take safety classes every 6 months. And don't get a speeding ticket or run over grass (yes even grass) you have to take a close quarters education(aka: go out with a trainer for 8 hrs and he/she evaluates your skill) and have to take more tests including drug tests. I happen to drive for Swift. Been there 7 yrs and still rollin. I bet they fired you for being careless that's why your so angry. But you been in the industry for 40 yrs so i should shut my pie hole and let someone with more experience and stupidity prattle on... Oh yeah those trucks that look like pumpkins have a worse safety record than Swift(as of 2009). I saw it on a DOT officers patrol car computer. P.S. go take a shower... PLEASE!

nice try, but epic fail-SWIFT is still kicking the rest of the industry's butts; it's easy to sit around and make up stories that you 'read'in a publication you happened to see in the 7-11 while you checking on your investements (checking the numbers on your lotto tickets) when you can't quite measure up...i'm guessing you got bounced during Swift's orientation for flunking the DOT physical or the drug test. UPSer776 wrote: I read an article today that has swift as a "bottom rung" company that is at greatest risk for defaulting in 2009 with a negative credit rating. It was stated in the wall st. journal. i'm guessing the 'guy who can't speak english'(who probably spoke it better than you)passed the road test and you couldn't get it out of the gate without stalling out or hitting another vehicle...or did your lack of a high school education, past history of meth use, and those 'less than glowing' references from Burger King fail to impress anyone? I must say something good about what Swift did for me. They were the only company that let me drive with no experience and i had cdl already through my union. I did like the company, but the people that ran the place was my downfall
