I would say before it is all said and done it could be closer to 3,000 give or take a houndred or two. is this a "refresher course" or are you going through the whole program? Its just the apparently 10-day refresher class ... I have my CDL. I'm thinking maybe i'll just be a slave for WERNER for three months instead of England. They have a 2 to 3 day orientation and put you right in a truck. Their pay is only $350 a week for two months, but All these big companies are going to stick it to you for the first 3 to 6 months anyway so what choice do I have ... I don't have any experience. I got to pay my dues. What bugs my about England is I read what the Federal Judge recently wrote in his judgment against England. England was taking the lease-drivers money and putting it into an escrow account and basically taking from that account whatever England wanted and at will, without providing the driver any accounting of the funds England was taking. England was also illegally requiring the lease drivers to buy tires, maintenance, accounting srvices, etc., and again, not providing the drivers's with timely and adequate accounting of the charges. The judge stated that such conduct shows a blantant disregard of the law and the well being of the lease operator. I wouldn't recommend even thinking about leasing until you have the first year in, particularly if you are inexperienced like myself.

Federal Judge Stewarts order in 2007 found England quilty of (1) Failure to clearly specify certain charge-backs against compensation; (2)Forced purchases; (3)Improper management of escrow accounts, etc.
Now in 2010, another meritorious lawsuit is filed against England. From papers served on July 30th, 2010, a class action lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court, Central District of California, on September 1st, 2010 against trucking firm, C. R. England. The suit, Case No. 08-CV-05266-GW (CWx), was filed through the law firm of Van Vleck Turner & Zaller LLP, which specializes in labor and employment law.
The suit alleges that C. R. England :
•Failed to provide meal breaks or premium compensation for missed meal breaks •Failed to provide rest breaks or premium compensation for missed rest breaks •Failed to provide accurate itemized wage statements •Withheld unauthorized deductions from earned wages •Failed to pay all accrued vacation •Failed to timely pay final wages
Again, what is really troubling about England (and it appears to a pattern) is England's habit of taking the driver's money without providing any accounting to the driver of the money they take - here you gain insight as to how the company thinks about the driver.

My husband was a lease driver. His last real paycheck was in july. His lease ended in october. He now is waiting for his last check and settlement on the lease. The truck was in perfect condition. We are behind in bills since they don't pay. $1000/wk truck payment and fuel didn't leave any money for his time spent. My husband just got new job with different company. CR England told my husband that since they are out of utah they have up to 45 days to pay acording to utah laws, not the laws of our home state.

Don't believe anything they say. They will promise you the world and take your all. Be careful and make sure you have a good bank account to keep you going. Mandy1026 wrote: My husband is in phase one at CRE. They told him if he does team driving he can make $2,500 a week. He is not going to do the lease program. Could he actually make that amount? If he doesn't lease does that mean he will not have to worry about owing CRE money? Except for what he owes for school of course. This could be a blessing for our family but I'm scared it's to good to be true. Any advice?? Should I tell him to just come home??

You guys are all idiots who have no idea what you are talking about. This guy abviously is under contract and owes the company money or left his delivery early so he could go home and owes money that way. So get a life and an education.

Been trucking for 42 yrs. Stay out of trucking unless your in the office. But not at CR England. Your never home and if your married what kind of life is for your wife or children? Go get a job and be home. I repeat dont be a OTR driver. I've been working locally since 99 and home every night. The pay is better and your saving money. Figure out what it is going to cost B4 you make the mistake of being an OTR drive.

It all depends on what papers he signed.
If he signed a bunch of papers without reading them and asking questions first there's nothing he can do except honor what he agreed too.
Most of those papers trucking companies have you sign will indicate that you understand that all policies can change at anytime without warning or without notice, means anything they promised you on the phone can change the minute you signed the papers.
If he has anything going for himself have him just walk away and the heck with driving a truck, if not and he needs the job because he's broke, then have him 'Start Kissing Some Keyster'.

Thanks, although I don't think he's very good at keyster kissing. Lol TANGLEFOOT wrote: It all depends on what papers he signed. Lol <quoted text> I know; you know what I mean; Most of us hate kissing Keyster, The ones that do it religously make it bad for the rest of us. If he's gonna quit he's gotta do it during orientation, if he waits and starts letting them run him all over the country trying to get their money out of him that's no-good for him. He has to walk/away now, don't start driving for them. Now does he already have a CDL? Or is he getting the CDL through the CR/England school? You said they were lying to him which leads me to believe he's an experienced driver. The only way a driver can beat a company is quit during orientation, get in a rental/car and just leave, Once you go under a dispatch and start driving for them; You've agreed that you understand and agree with all their policies. I hate companies that screw people; OOIDA had a Class action lawsuit on CR England twice and won but they're still in business. Good luck to you both. P.S. the best deal going out there right now for a driver with a family or girlfriend; is JB HUNT running cans, they have the best deal out there; the only downside is they love keyster kissers, you can really do great with them running cans but you have to at least act (humble) LOL. Good Luck.

He already has his CDL...and he does have experience driving the bigrigs. He doesn't keyster kiss very well...lol I have tried talking to him about leaving but he's going to stick it out for the 6 mos right now he's volunteered to drive their shuttle for them. So hopefully he is very careful and checks his paystubs.
