DO NOT APPLY AT RONNIE DOWDY TRUCKING out of batesville,arkansas. There is internal friction between the brothers, disaptchers WILL run you illegal, and some even pay you to do so. Your HOS mean nothing to the dispatcher until you get a violation ticket from Public Safety, then the dispatcher will deny any conversation of you being 'forced' to run illegal. RUN FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! They have poor, slow equipment. You DO NOT get paid for detention! They WILL NOT get you home on time for your days off,even when given more than two weeks notice of which days you want off. They say you get .35 per mile,yet they tax you on .28 per mile and say other .7 will not get taxed. Pay check is ALWAYS incorrect! STAY AWAY!

Been here for 13 years and never have been told to run ilegal. Dowdy has never asked for me to run ilegal, and have been counseled the times I have pushed it. It always the drivers choice, all you have to do is let them know u do not have the hours and they will swap you.

All of the negatives posted here are RIGHT ON THE MONEY.
Load planners who have "favorites" get the miles, the rest of the drivers are just screwed. Dispatch either don't know what they are doing, or plain don't care, will not answer q-comm, or phones, most of the time, will not get you home, even when told a month in advance, the last two weeks of which are reminded EVERY DAY when you want home, they lie and say "working on it". In my honest opinion, I have a gut feeling they are in the midst of filing bankruptcy again.
At any given time, there are 20= trucks sitting at the yard with no drivers, because everyone is quitting, even those like me, who has been here for YEARS.
My advice is to stay far, far away from RDI.

if you like to get home ontime and once a month this isnt your company. if you like detention pay for sitting at shipper/consignee for 10-30 hours this isnt your company, if you like driveing a well maintained truck, this isnt your company.... if you want to have a job where you live in your truck to make ends meet, this is the place for you...

I worked off and on for Mr. Dowdy and he always treated me right. Not too many layovers,,but in the business it happens. I made good money with them. And they all treated me very well, and knew my name when I walked into the offices. Hope you have a good experience with them and safe driving out there.

OH YEA! They also have done the same to my husband since 2008. They even ask to be contacted on his DAC so they can verbally black-ball him with false accusations. We have been told by numerous companies to hire an attorney but that will cost 5 to 10,000. Who has that kind of money?

I worked there for 14 years and my dac record was clean except for a couple of late loads. Then when I was forced to quit, my dac record turned into a 10 page nightmare.

Ronnie Dowdy is the worse company that my husband has ever drove for. The will not fix anything on the road and when you come to their shop alot of the times they don't have the parts so you have to wait until next time. Their new ad says home every 14 days but they only got my husband home maybe once a month and then it would take they a week or more to get him home then. Sometimes they would even want him to split his hometime and take a load and come back home but then they would never get you back home. Everytime you ask for hometime it's we got to cover freight. If he would treat his drivers right they would stay around and he won't have to worry about covering freight. Never ever got any detention pay the whole time he was there. There insurance is outrageous and doesn't pay much at all. $130.00 a week for 2,500 deductable and you have a copay but still have to pay 20% with the copay. And I could go on all night with this. All I can say it stay away from these ppl if you want a life.

Many companies are like that they don't care about the drivers.

Shity trucks. Breakdown all the time. Like pulling teeth to get repaired.

Run like hell.......: look for a better co. To drive for. Period.

their one one company in Batesville to work for that DOWELL being there 22 years. Dowdy and bill davis or crooks dowdy has all but closed his doors they got very few trucks running it looks like a ghost town over their. If you want to be treated right go to dowell

Was told today 1-30-2012......Friday will be Ronnie fiesta last day of operating...all telex have to be on yard by midnight Friday..........

They closed their DOORS this weekend , no explaination to customers or employees.

They closed their doors, but they got every driver in unlike arrow trucking... Oh and Perkins also cloed and got everybody home...

i worked for them and i live in batesville. i dont know any one from batesville that will work for them. we know how they are.lie lie lie oh you will like them if you want no life or a wife. say good buy to all that and be ready to get hung up on the east coast oh yes i said east they tell you west but thats full of crap. THEY SUCK......
