Trucking companies need to raise their freight rates and stop "cut-throat" techniques. Trucking companies are still operating off of rates established in 1985! No wonder companies are bankrupt.

Since when is the job of the President or for that matter the job of our Government to provide jobs. How about the free market, bone head.

No doubt!
America is finally realizing that trucking is costly and redundant. Rail IS the answer.
I hope they ALL go out of business. Hey, American automakers were thought to be invulnerable- guess that didn't work out. And who wins? American citizens in better longer lasting cars.
Trucking WILL die much the same way. People are SICK of subsidizing that corn fed industry.

The economy sucks and that sucking sound is coming from Mexico & China these days. NAFTA that Bill Clinton supported with the Republican Congress pushing for it has turned into a disaster for Ohio & the rust belt states. Our only hope to turn this thing around is BHO being elected in November and the Congress changing the terms of NAFTA to better reflect reality today. Vote Democrat if you want NAFTA to be modified. remember Grandpa McCain is a FREE TRADER !!!!

When was the last time a train pulled up in the back of your local grocery store and unloaded groceries? Seen any rail-road tracks behind your local mall, lately?

In case you been under a rock for the last month or so, BHO IS NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING ON NAFTA, NOW! It was just more campaign rhetoric to get the suckers to vote for him in the primary. In the last six weeks, the only thing that he has not "CHANGED" positions on, is drilling for AMERICAN oil, of course that could "CHANGE" any minute!

BOY WHAT A "CHANGE" WE ARE GOING TO GET OUT OF HIM!

As for McCain, I am voting NON OF THE ABOVE!!!!

I saw it every day in Europe. They use UPS style vans to make local deliveries from the excellent rail system. They use trucks in a limited capacity and I assure you, you won't see a semi in Venice, Rome or any number of European countries. Oh yeah, the Europeans don't pay for damage inflicted upon roads by semi trucks, they charge appropriate fees for driving a semi. My car cannot damage the road yet, thanks to your lobby, I must pay. Also thanks to your lobby, Americans believed Interstate trucking was the answer to our transport problems. That is now over. When every other Country in the world has a better, safer and more efficient way to transport goods, and Americans wake up to the fact they've been hoodwinked; trucking days are numbered. And not a moment to soon.

I want to see that rail car deliver your groceries to your local food lion or Kroger or even Walmart....It is totally impossible.......So yeah, lets go ahead and do away with all trucks and see where that gets you!!!!

This is exactly the kind of crap that really pisses me off. Hapless drones supporting the cause of killing America while spewing BS about false fear and idle threats. If a person is not afraid of what will happen when this hapless twit becomes the commander in chief, he should be committed to the lock up ward. Osama is DANGEROUS. So take your pony tail logic to starbucks where the rest of the pseudo intellectuals hang out. They'll elevate you to the throne of moronic imbeciles.

Er, knucklehead. Rail is a HUGE part of containing costs for freight providers these days. No, you don't use trains to deliver groceries to Wal-Mart. That is idiocy. Rail lines are used to transport both full and empty trailers to central distribution points where they they use the least amount of diesel fuel to make deliveries and/or get reloaded for the next run. Don't listen to me though. Check out the charts on nearly every railroad out there. All are trading at or near a 52-week high. So, just maybe, more than one or two people agree with me.

BTW, when a trucking company the size of Jevic goes under due to fuel. Y'all better buckle up. It is going to be one hell of a ride.

Sad, but true.

4 more trucking companies have filed for bankruptcy in the last week. 1 may get the financing needed to stay open, 1 is already being sold off, and the other 2???

If it gets to where stuff starts not showing up on the store shelves, I hope everyone remembers how much WE do not need trucking, on their way to a rail yard to see if they can pick up some supplies.

Oh, wait, I forgot, some stuff is not going to be at the rail yard, because a truck was not there to take it to the rail yard on the other end of the tracks!
