Well Im glad that they think of the safety of their Drivers.I understand with the Fuelprices the way they are etc.but whatabout the driver. Now its gonna take much longer for the freight to be moved and 60 miles per Hr? come on. For years the ATA wants trucks to be slowed down and they are using fuelprices and the enviroment to do so. maybe schneider should think think about getting their trucks outfitted with an exhaust regeneration system but hey it might be to much and they would have to spend some of their money ... so bottemline its the driver who is gonna suffer in all that. plus 60mph , thats a danger to the motoring public, but hey who am i to say anything. its all coporate and its the little people who get pee'd on.

Heck I remember when these trucks were governed at 55mph and drivers were fired for doing 60.That is why we called them road cones. The drivers back then received 5 paychecks a month 1 for each week and one for going slow. I guess it wouldn't be so bad if the fuel savings was kicked back to the driver in the form of the 5th paycheck for that month. only time will tell.

I have driven a governed truck for 28yrs,it does not take any longer, you just need to be a better time manager. There isn't time for hangin in the truckstop and playing video games or whatever.

Everyone can drive 55 or 60 unless you have A.D.D. or some other mental disorder. The problem is that the governor takes away your ability to maniuver, speed up and slow down and pass other vehicles. The small fuel savings is taken away by the smog and exaust recirculating equipment found on most newer trucks.
All Schneider is doing is trying to get a spot in the public eye and doing something that seems positive even if the actual results are negative. Also, most trucks are governed at 70 M.P.H. because the tire makers won't warranty a truck tire past that speed because of the large size and centrifugal force. Even this is dangerous when trying to pass someone in a 70 M.P.H. state. When Schneider and J.B. drove 55, they were the most hated people to ever get on a highway. Build me a Caddilac and then tell me I can't afford to buy gas...is this a back in the country joke gone bad or what? |
|
Then Schneider should stay in the right lane and quit racing with other slow trucks!
What a bunch of bull it's a matter of choice for an owner-operator how fast his/her truck should run not up to the ATA/government. Time is money in trucking, there is freight/economic slowdown and Schneider has more freight on the rails. Schneider is the biggest joke in trucking, maybe Schneider should go back to the union days and pay their drivers decent wages and put them up in motel rooms every night and save fuel,a better rested driver is a SAFE driver not causing a traffic jam on the highways. |

I agree 100% with you. My company used to run 74mph,then 72 mph, then 68 mph and now they gonna turn us down to 65mph.We run Teams so we "DO NOT " sit in trkstops and play games all day. I just run into a slow schneider truck and low and behold he tried to pass a j.b.hunt, so needless to say by time he was done it was a big mess in the hammerlane. And for the exhaust regeneration system..we have one on our truck and it does not use more fuel or anything else. we even have a sticker on the side of the hood saying we are idle complaing for the state of california. So my question is: " whats next? what are those non truckdriving people at the ata etc come up with next to make our lives worse? |

The object is for the train lobby to get the trucks to go slower than the trains. That's why they say, "Dumb Truck Driver." Because no matter what stupid things they do or laws they make...those dumb truck drivers just keep showing up for work and looking for MILES>>> Every state needs to conform to one set of (User Frendly) Federal Laws and stop using Asemetric Information to rob hard working people of their hard earned money. |

For years I've run my truck between 70 and 75 mph, but now I have slowed down to 62. It's just too expensive to run much faster. Soon more and more companies will be forced to slow down also. Run smart keep the money in your and avoid blowing it out your stacks.
