This is a sad story. Here is a man who crashed. He did everything he could and we can't put people in jail who intend to hurt people. Just sad. I am very sorry for the people killed but it is a chance we all take the minute we get behind the wheel.

I am not sure why charges were filed, I do not know all the details or what caused him to fall asleep. But unless he was drinking or on drugs, the poor man just fell asleep!!! I am all for punishing people who are reckless and kill others on the road, but why can't we let this man just be with his family and try to heal? I know lives were lost and I am so horrified, this is the first time hearing this story. He obviously cared!!! He will be tormented for life!!! Why did he fall asleep - why isn't that in the article?? I cannot stomach knowing how tortured everyone involved in this will be for the rest of their lives! Makes you wonder if there really is a god.

I hope this guy gets some leniency for having the heart to try and save these people from the aftermath of what he did. Lying on his back screaming "No, Please No" does not sound like someone who wanted to hurt anyone. I also feel for the families of the accident victims. This is a bad situation for all. God, life is weird sometimes

Did he admit to falling asleep? Was he driving too many hours? It doesnt mention anything in this article that justifies vehicular manslaughter. This poor guy did everything he could to rescue the people. He probably relives those moments every day. Doesnt make sense. Sad thing is, you can probably rape someone and do less time than this poor guy is going to do.

How come he is charged with vehicular manslaughter, but the teen driver of the minivan in the Good's crash they only mention a possible citation for running a red light?

This is so, so very sad. This man truly made a mistake he has suffered for and I think leniency and mercy is in order.

I doubt he'll ever risk falling asleep at the wheel again in his life.

Unless they can show he violated some sort of law, since when is falling asleep a criminal act? It was a horrible, horrible accident. I'm so sad for the victims and their families as well as the driver and his family. I hope they can all find peace.

Trucks running into traffic in construction areas are an enormous problem. Sadly, some truckers are either going to have to be killed or prosecuted for them to take safety more seriously. The trucking industry has gone into the toilet in the past 25 years or so. There are many good drivers on the road, but the industry has WAY too many who should not be operating a big truck. You truckers--be honest--you know this is true. Tough law enforcement, including some serious charges now and then when warranted, might help. Unfortunately, this driver sounds like a decent guy who made a big mistake.

For the last 9 years, I have traveled about 30 miles of 78 each weekday commuting to and from work. I can say that truck drivers are some of the most dangerous motorists on the road. For some reason, most of them think they own the road and are at liberty to do whatever they want since they are "bigger" than the cars. Not that the drivers in cars are any better, but the worst crashes seem to always involve a truck. Just this morning on my way to work, I had no less than 4 different drivers cut over in front of me because I was not riding immediately up against the bumper of the car in front of me - and one of those was a truck! It is only by the grace of God and my own patience that I've escaped with my life over these last 9 years and, believe me, I thank God every night for getting me and my loved ones home safely!

No doubt LEE IS A LEFT LANE DRIVER!! He does not know how to drive in the right lane. He is probably one who pulls over infront of a BIG RIG and then applies the brakes. So many cars think a truck can stop on a dime, like a car!!!

I would rather drive on 78 with Big Rigs than the idiot drivers ridiing the left lane causing other to weave
in and out. The law states, and there are signs along the highway DRIVE RIGHT, PASS LEFT! I guess no one knows how to read!

Are you people complete idiots or just temporarily stupid?? "He should be allowed to heal with his family" and "poor man"?? What about the families and friends he robbed of their loved ones? Who exactly are they supposed to heal with? Maybe you should consider them before you post your comments pitying the sleeping driver.
Great, he tried to get them out of the car. Well, if he hadn't plowed into them in the first place, he wouldn't have had to do that. The man is at fault and is criminally liable for the people he murdered. Yes, murdered. Only instead of a knife or a gun, he used a tractor trailer going in excess of 70mph as a battering ram. Period. He knew he was tired...that doesn't just happen all of a sudden unless he is narcoleptic, at which point, he would not have a CDL.
I bet "Please God, no" is far less than the families had to say...

Finally some common sense. fallin asleep behind the wheel of a 70,000 poun truck is criminal. He stole the life of two people from their families because he was too stupid to pull into the rest stop and take a break. The fact that he tried to redeem himself by pulling them from the wreck is a little too late I would say. make an example of these reckless drivers and maybe it will save your lives or your children.

Think of the families that lost there loved ones, they are the people that everyone should be praying and thinking about. When i heard that he was charged with manslaughter i was thanking god. This man killed 3 people that did not deserve to die. This man is a criminal and deserves to spend the rest of his life in jail. There is no reason anyone should be saying it was a mistake this was not a mistake. He murdered those people and took them from there loved ones. So just think about what you say and think of the families that lost there loved ones.

You have NO clue. as well as the rest of you people. It's been a couple weeks shy of a year and we still sob. Is this fair? Is it fair that a "father who lost his daughter is benefitting in his wallet from the insurance from his daughter's mother's life insurance policy while the fact is that he and Tricia had been separated for nearly 3 years. If I had any control of this .......Alison would be the SOLE beneficiary af any and ALL procedes.

Tricia and Courtney..........
We all miss you terribly!!!!!!
