This little jewel in the heart of the Mediterranean seems to have it all. But beware if your not into history, museums and pre-historic sites then I’m afraid there is nothing else to do here except diving, wind-surfing, cruises, visit unspoilt beaches, eat fine food in the abundance of excellent restaurants or club the night away in the sea of nightclubs in Paceville, one of Malta prime nightspots. Boring….I don’t think so!
Apart from the usual stuff you find in most sun holidays, Malta offers a little more diversity than other holiday destinations. If you’re not a history buff, you will be after visiting Malta. Its history is everywhere from the ancient fortified city of Mdina, which overlooks the whole island to the small walled capital city of Valletta. The island is amazingly easy to get around too. The traditional Leyland buses run every few minutes to almost everywhere on the island and the fares are cheap too.
A few places of note to visit on Malta are the Blue Grotto, Mdina, St. John’s Co-Cathedral (Malta’s own version of the Sistine Chapel), Mellieha, Popeye Village, Valletta and of course for the nightlife, the always pumping music of Paceville beckons. I think that’s Malta covered. It’s sister island Gozo is a more relaxed affair, chilled-out is the name of the game here, but noteworthy places to see are The Azure Window, Inland Sea, Xlendi, Ta Pinu and the pre-historic temples of Ggantija.
Finally we get to the tiny island of Comino. Now this is paradise. Crystal clear blue waters of the Blue Lagoon are like something straight off a movie set. You can get cruises to the island or simply go on a drop-off, pick-you-up later deal with the smaller vessels. The problem is, once you land in the Blue Lagoon it’s really, really hard to leave. Next stop……Malta !!!!!
