I don't suppose the CEO's and upper management would consider a "temporary" pay cut to help off set the higher fuel costs, Now would they?

This morning I recieved an email from NWA signed by many airline execs urging customers to take action to control oil speculation. I'm still trying to stop laughing. Now the airline industry is giving out economic advice.

A comment in the story is right, NWA should charge what they need to for the ticket. It will get old very quick when you have to dig out the wallet to check a bag and again if you want a snack. Whats next, a two dollar charge to be told of the safety features of the aircraft, or charges to turn on your reading light or air nozzle?

If NWA really wants to save money they should retire ALL the 40 year old maintenance pig, gas guzzling DC-9s. Next, as part of the merger, ELIMINATE any duplicate CEO, COO, CFO, etc . positions and cut the pay of those who are "lucky" enough to stay. A company only needs one of each, if that.

Tehy say "management " is part of these layoffs..anyone want to wager how many?? I say at the most 10..and those are probably vacant jobs they havn't filled yet..I'd like to see at least 30 from MSP hub alone..that'd be sweet, then I'd for sure know that NWA is serious about making things better..until then..NOT

Your statement makes great retoric but with zero substance.

Well, I don't like NWA either as I think all the workers act snobby and arrogant - HOWEVER - I am one who would RATHER be nickled and dimed because I may not want to use some of those services, hence I would still be saving money. I can see why they do it this way - as when people are shopping for fares, they tend to go with the lowest, so if they add these fees in there that don't relate to the actual "ride" you are purchasing, it makes them look higher priced.

The "Executive Management" ranks have done the harm, not the lowly front line manager or union labor
