Whatever happened to keeping promises and being honest to the words one speaks while trying to win the votes of the American workers ( the backbone of America ) I believe our officials have forgotten the real meaning of honesty and the morals behind it.

When are people going to learn that you can't believe anything any candidate promises. Sure they can promise big things, but once in office they soon realize that they need other people to go along with the plan also to get it passed so a majority of their "promises" never come to fruition. Then you have the ones that promise things when they have no intention of actually even trying to make them happen, just saying anything to get votes.

Ohio doesn't need more dead-end jobs. We need good-paying, skilled-labor jobs that will last over the long term. Those would have been provided by the enrichment plant. Temp jobs as a nuclear janitor won't.

So you being a VETERAN should good and well know the importance of supporting OUR country and should quit bringing Bush up when the Obama Administration decides they want to support the French Govt. You did see how much the French have helped our military right?

Brown need to go. Proof he is not reading all these bills that they are passing.
So if he admits to not reading them, none of them are.

There is more here than meets the eye. Unfortunately, most folks in this great country of ours aren’t as up to speed on this topic as we in the industry would like. The decision to abandon USEC at this critical juncture is horrific. Most people see this as a loss of jobs, broken promises and a general state of devastation to a small community in Ohio. While all these things are true, there is a much bigger picture to this. Consider the facts, The United States Department of Energy has consciously decided to place our country in a position of total failure with regard to Energy independence; In doing so, they have also placed National Security at exceedingly great risk from which there is zero chance for recovery. Bold statement to be sure but nonetheless very true. This issue needs brought to light in the National media, otherwise our nation is in serious jeopardy. People must be made aware of this and stop it.

Consider; thousands of high paying technical jobs are done away with when the mechanism to retain them (and add additional similar “shovel ready” jobs) is right in front of us for the taking.

The President of the United States while campaigning, firmly and unequivocally stated his full support for this project and after getting the votes he wanted for his promise has turned his back on his word, his people and his country.

Piketon, Ohio is a quiet out of the way town that has in one way shape or form seen to heart of this country’s needs since the beginning of the atomic age. It is now destined for clean-up and more than likely removal from the map.

These heinous acts should not be accepted by the people of this country! Why are we here?

We are here not because the economy dictates it, not because the industry is no longer needed, not because you or I are haven’t a choice in the matter and it was CERTAINLY not because of technical or financial preparedness on the part of USEC. I have 3 independent documents stating exactly the opposite from folks more qualified to make this determination than some bureaucrat making decisions based on how he or she will personally benefit from those decisions--regardless of who or what is at stake. We are here because a group of people who claim to be Americans are nothing more than common politicians. A certainty—The decision to say no to USEC did not have the best interest of this country in mind when it was made. To determine the reasoning for this horrible, horrible choice, one need look no further than the politician who gets the richest or gains more political clout as a result.

Finally, I don’t care what political party you choose to affiliate with and I don’t care whether or not you are pro or Anti nuclear. What I care about is my country and the ability of those I love to have a life comparable to the one I’ve had so far. Being at the mercy of foreign powers is not going to get that done any more than the belief that wind and solar is the answer. The DOE has seen to that with full backing of the president. I urge anyone reading this to elevate the facts stated here to the national media if you have the means. Unfortunately, I do not.
