Dear Tom, I read your article of April 6th, regarding the Hartford Arts Center. I studied ballet with The Hartford Ballet Company, during 1973-74. I traveled in from Storrs every evening. Up until that point I had only studied ballet with a local private studio, and I felt so privileged to be taking classes at The Hartford Ballet. I had been a faithful attendee of annual performances of The Nutcracker since I was ten. When I was 19, I moved to Philadelphia, and then when I was 21, I moved to Boston. I attended performances of The Nutcracker in both of those cities, but The Hartford Ballet, still was, by far, the most spectacular. When I moved back to Connecticut in 2002, I searched the web, looking for information about The Nutcracker, so that I could, attend a performance of The Hartford Ballet, but I could find nothing. I had to sadly accept the fact that the company must have dissolved. Today, I was once again thinking about my past ballet experiences and I did another search on the web and found your article. I was sad to learn that the company ended in 1999. I am glad that I was able to enjoy the company while it was here, and it will be greatly missed. Robin Young
