The contract was the best I have seen in Twenty years that I have been employed by UTC. The unions ego got in the way and the union was telling its members to strike before they even saw the contract.

I've been working at Sikorsky for 25 years and as far as medical goes, this was the absolute injustice. Maybe the previous poster from feb 20 should have used the vison plan!!!!!!!

I agree with sikorsky worker 2 ... my husband has built & inspected for SIK for 38 yrs....
They are taking away from medical benefits big time!
and won't even come to the Table to talk about it...

Shame Shame & Sad.

Can't someone "Important" make them show their faces at the Table at least. Communication is a Key to Stop this Strike ya know? These union workers do really dig building the BEST Aircrafts in the world.

How much are you paying now?
Have you compared what you pay to what others (not at you company) pay for health insurance?
When was the last increase in your health benefits? Between 2000 and 2004, the National Health Expenditures (NHE) per Capita has increased 35.1%.

On another note, between 2000 and 2004, Employer Health Plan Premiums have increased 57.1%.

Agree, Health care costs have increased for both employee and employer.

On another note: SIK/UTC profits have increased along with earnings for the VP's and salary workers.(not hourly labor workers thou) George Davids and others earnings reflect that increase in profits also. UTC/SIK and Cigna Insurance (the only ins. offred)have some of the same people on their board memebers..its a win-win for them.
The hard working middle class people are being forced this 'healthcare saga' down their throats while the Rich get richer and themiddle class go down to lower class struggling... at least in CT anyways.

I researched the internet Keystone's package..its a great one! "Keystone benefit philosophy is quite simple - we recognize that to attract and retain TOP Talent, we must offer top-of-the-line benefits". Why can Keystone manage health care costs? The cost:$1. or 9. per month to employees, with two great ins. options to choice? Sik only offers Cigna, which as i stated IS UTC.

SIK will never be what it used to be after this Strike. They dis-honor dis-respect hard working middle class people who alot have over 25 yrs experience building The best Aircrafts in the World... Shame Shame on Them!
Corporate Greed is what they are about now, not recogizing the Top Talent that made them Rich already.

Excuse me .. to correct myself

Keystone was aquired by Sikorsky in 2005.

I GUESS, either Keystones web site is not correct OR George David is in a lie with the only public statement made about this Strike in a full $page ad in Ct Post, that alll of UTC has the same 80/20 Health care.

What is the TRUTH to this Strike, anybody know?

The delema layed on these 3600 labor workers is: Quit the Union and go back to work or else you loose you job permantely OR your out of a job.

The only thing I know as fact is: these top Talented and Skilled Labor workers will not cross that Line, they have integrety and charactor which is how the best aircrafts in the world were built. Not nice of George David to dis-respect and dis-honor them by not giving the order to get to the Table and talk face to face.....

Feel more like the invasion of "UTC Control" right here in America...

Someone save our Souls from Corporate Greed, talk to George David, find out the Truth..cause we (who have over 25++ yrs of service with SIK) surely don't know

WHAT IS THIS CRAP. GO BACK TO WORK. THE MONEY YOU WOULD HAVE TO SPEND ON YOUR NEW HEALTHCARE PLANS YOU COULD HAVE MADE THAT AND MORE WITH JUST TAKING THE CONTRACT AND USING THE SIGNING BONUS MONEY. WHY MUST EVERYONE BE SO COMPLICATED. GET REAL PEOPLE!! THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF WORKERS IN THE U.S THAT PAY ALOT MORE THAN THAT FOR THEIR FAMILIES HEALTHCARE. GET REAL,& GO BACK TO WORK!
STRATFORD ALREADY HATES YOU FOR THE MONEY PROBLEMS YOU'RE CAUSING IN THEIR TOWN. JUST GO BACK TO WORK. I'M TIRED OF YOUR STRIKE.

And I am tired of people like you who don't know all the facts. Like.... the signing bonus would be all gone in no time along with wage increases for - increased medical pay deductions, increase costs for health deductables & medications. Why take away from Skilled Labor Workers, when the Company & CEO's are racking in the bucks big time - with many contracts for the future?

Don't you care about the average, middle class American Labor Workers getting a FAIR DEAL from wealthy Corporations.... Don't you care about your children's future who might have the passion and ability to do great things in the American Labor workforce?

Wish it was that easy to just go back to work....
UTC will not even come to the Table and Talk, face to face....

But they will put hardship on lives, families, towns to keep the almighty dollar in CEO's pockets. IF they just get to the Table and Talk, something could be worked out, don't you think?

--In reply to that, I don't have children my father works at sikorsky & it's not easy for our family to maintain strength on 232 dollars a week compared to the paychecks that used to be rolling in. So dont feed me lines about how unfair it is. I don't want to hear it. Why can't you just be happy that you had a job that offered you any kind of benefits to begin with. Most american families pay a lot more than 40semad dollars a week for their healthcare. Maybe the company is being greedy but there is no doubt that the union is not also being greedy.

I am so sorry for you & your families hardship b/c of this Strike.
Neither sides wins with a Strike, both sides suffer ....
Support your Dad's right to work with a Fair Deal from UTC and his decission to keep your family from future hardships b/c of a sucky new contract deal that UTC is offering. Your Dad is Striking to "Do the Right Thing" for you! And is is one of the many - who's hard work, intregrity and charactor build the best aircrafts in the world, it doesn't surprize me he takes the stance of Striking in Unity seriously, unlike UTC's stance to dis-respect and dis-honor their labor workers by putting their heads in the sand and not recognizing the worth & needs of their Labor workers.- this makes your Dad feel bad inside.
I know he wants to go back to work - so does my husband.
But with a Fair Deal is all they ask for...
I am sorry

Time & a half over 8 hours on any given day.
Time & a half on Saturday.
Doubletime on Sunday.
Full Tuition reimbursment including books.(Most of you dolts probably don't attend college.)
A VERY decent & fair health care plan.

The other side of life.
Ford & GM are laying off bigtime. Since 9/11 100,00 + airline employees have been furloughed. Most maufacturing jobs have already gone overseas.

The bottom line.
Stop your whining & go back to work or else all you idiots will be flippin burgers at Mc D's.

Zero Sympathy-

Your mentality of the Top Talented Sikorsky Skilled Labor workers that builds the best aircrafts in the world ...are idiots and will be flippin burgers at McD's, really shows your egnorance!

The bottom Line = Teamsters are the Bottom Line!
Thats how George David and the other Fat Cat CEO's make their millions ....its sad that the Greed of the almighty dollar does not appreciate people who have dediciated their lives to SIKORSKY.
Not a Good place to work anymore, for sure!

You are wrong thou, they will not be flipping burgers after Sikorsky... you idiot, they are Top Talented skilled labor workers...

And its more like being between a Rocko and DavidO.

Being protected by the Union is much better than being "At the mercy" of a Greedy Corporation who doesn't appreciate its TOP TALENTED SIKORSKY SKILLED WORKERS!

Do you the union people realize that UTC not sikorsky is offering you the same deal that all of the other UTC hourly workers have already signed for previously. I don't believe that there is any way that the union is going to get UTC to change the healthcare plan since all of the other UTC subsidies have signed it. I hope the union workers realize that their may not be jobs to go back to if you wait too much longer. They have already begun to ship jobs out to other areas of the country. If I were you I would call it a loss and go back to work, but I'm not so that is all of your decisions. Bottom line is that Healthcare is expensive in this country and until we are taken over by Canada (not happening) thats not going to change.
