To Ms. Edwards,
The first thing I would like to do is Thank you so much for speaking out on Breast Cancer and Insurance. We need you. I am a Cancer survivor. When I heard you I was touched and Thankful you are stating the facts. I recently lost my job, thankfully got another job. My new insurance does not kick in for 90 days. In order for me to get my new plan I am required as you know to carry Cobra for the 3 months. It is very expensive. I am a Cancer survivor. It is appalling that we are penalized for SURVIVING. My story goes on like many others. I have tried to secure intermittent less expensive plans that are advertized as short term plans. Well, those are only for "HEALTHY PEOPLE". If you are have had a previous condition and Cancer is on the top of the list, you are not covered under these plans. Without insurance my meds are $355.00 per month, with insurance they are $47.00 per month, and that is only for my Femara. What do I do? I am a single mom, with a decent job. But Cobra will be very expensive. Either way I will be "scre--ed". If I do not take it I will be penalized. My new insurance will deny coverage of any preexisting. I also have a daughter with Growth Hormone deficiency. So I need the Cobra plus 1 child (I have 3 others that are healthy).$702.00 per month. We need change and we need it now. I would be happy to have you contact me because I believe so strongly in what you are supporting. I think Hilary is the only one to get this accomplished. Please email if you can. You can reach me @richterkell@aol.com. I am very concerned about how I will get covered and still put food on my childrens table. We NEED YOU TO HELP US. THANK YOU FOR SPEAKING OUT.
