Does anyone remember what happened to BFG in the 80's? Their Tire Division merged with Uniroyal to become Uniroyal-Goodrich and then was purchased by Michelin. Many long time BFG employees - prior to this merger - were basically SOLD to Michelin in a LOTTERY for their PENSIONS AND BENEFITS. Meanwhile, old John D. Ong, the Pres at the time, wrote a letter and assured those employees that their benefits would not be affected. Well, guess what? They were. There was a law suite. The employees lost. Those who were unfortunate to have been sold to Michelin ended up paying more for their health benefits, while the BFG employees, at least up to a few years ago, had very little increase to theirs. Check it out if you know someone who fell into that category. My hubby did.

Goodyear was once a great company to work for at one time, no longer true. I spent 29 & a half years before I was forced into early retirement which gave me 30 & a half years service. By the time they got through with me, I get $325.00 a month retirement, now try living off that!!!

Those at the top deserve everything they got. You have no idea how hard it is to run a business hamstrung by unionized morons.
Unions had a legitimate reason to exist at one time but they grew too greedy for their own good.

This is what they did to me. After giving 30.5 years of my life To Goodyear and now retired, it goes like this. I base this on 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, 47 weeks a year. My retirement pay averages out to a little less that $2.075 an hour before taxes. Now, try to live on that. Don't live for today, plan for tomorrow!!

After a lifetime of sucking the blood out of the rubber industry, you fools shouldn't even get a dime. In fact, you should each be fined for your part in chasing the rubber industry out of Akron. Be grateful you have that. Many others weren't so lucky to be overpaid their entire lives and still end up with a pension of any type. You f&cktards ruined it for everyone who came after you.

Sorry, I can't complain, don't have much money but my health has been mostly good. When I want to complain, I can look around and see what others are going through.

No, sorry I don't, our wages were more in line with mill workers. Don't get me wrong, I loved the work, sometimes the bosses were a pain and I felt that was just the way they were but after getting into supervision, I felt by treating others right, they would respect you. It didn't take me long to figure out, the old bosses started out just like I did. They worked their way up and felt they could make a difference too but in reality, you are going to have folks that want the money but not the work and would spend most of their time stirring up trouble so they could sit in the office complaining.

You f&cktards ruined it for everyone who came after you. http://www.greenvilleonline.com/article/20091... Will Everett, Washington go the way of Akron? Don Schunk, research economist at Coastal Carolina University, said Boeing's announcement would have the same widespread economic impact on the state that BMW's did. While Boeing didn't specify the amount of its economic investment, or the number of jobs that will be created, two state senators involved in talks with Boeing said the company will employ more than 3,000 in the first year with a capital investment of more than $1 billion. According to the Seattle Times , it might have been Boeing's difficulty reaching agreement with the International Association of Machinists that benefited South Carolina, which has very little union representation. The newspaper reported that company negotiators weren't satisfied with the union's stance over a potential 10-year, no-strike agreement for a second 787 production line for Everett, and talks stalled. U.S. Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., called Boeing's move to South Carolina “a shortsighted decision.” “What the company has neglected to account for is the quality and well-trained work force that they already have in Everett,” Murray said.

Dat you George? Still banging the drum for that neck of the woods I see. LOL!
I've seen some recent stuff about quite a bit of gang activity in that area, not my cup of tea.
