Did you read it? You really make yourself sound like an idiot with remarks like this. Ask Spanky and you will find out! Did you ever even go to a union meeting? You're knowledge is lacking.

So you should be special and not be like everybody else when they change job codes.

why did we have to loose these rights or any rights pertaining to seniority? what financial emergency does this remedy for the company? why would the union support a contract where you give up seniority for no reason? why would the union support a contract that divides us? can anyone answer these simple f***ing questions? anybody? anybody? mike?

After giving 30.5 years of my life To Goodyear and now retired, it goes like this. I base this on 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, 47 weeks a year. My retirement pay averages out to a little less that $2.075 an hour before taxes. Now, try to live on that. Don't live for today, plan for tomorrow!!

Let me leave you with this. All through the history of this Union and plant sacrifices have been made. During different times different sacrafices and challenges. When I came in we weren't even making half of what a UAW members hourly wage was, now we make more and have better benefits. It's up to you where this plant goes from here. Take a good look around this area you're not going to find anything near what you're making even with a 4 yr. degree. You can make it work or be sipping on a beer 2 yrs from now at a local tavern realizing that you didn't have it so bad. I can't be hurt anymore but you can. My last post.

well mike let me leave you with this, and i've tried to be very respectful in this discusion, despite being called dumb and a parasite. it is true that the union, in the past, has gotten us the benefits and the wage that we have had. but we have been steadily giving it all back. we went on strike and secured a union managed pension fund for retirees. we gave up seniority rights in this contract and once again the most senior people are pretty much unaffedted. the reason why we have had a decent wage and benefits is because at some point the union stood up and fought for them. when are we going to fight to keep the most basic benefit we have. our seniority. if thats not something to fight for what is? if we dont stand up soon we will all be in that tavern wondering what happened to all that we(you included) fought for. if they keep taking our rights and wages we may as well go work at wall mart for about the same pay. when do we fight?

Good move Mike. This guy doesn't even know who manages his pension fund and has the nerve to criticize you. I kinow and don't even work there. These greedy young kids will be sitting in a saloon wondering what happened. The points you made are very relevant in today's world but all they focus on is their own little world which will probably crumble around them.

the company funded the pension fund with a one time payment and got out of the business of paying health benefits to retirees. that fund is now managed by people representing the usw.

I know I said last post but you are so far off I had to reply. Our pension fund and the VEBA were never connected they are two seperate entities. If we had the same attitude as you in 1988 and didn't give up wages and some language this plant would have already closed. Don't lecture me on being union you younger guys complain constantly and have it better than any of your predecessors. Definate last post don't think you'll ever get it.

i'm in my mid 40's and have been here for nearly twenty years. when are we no longer considered kids or the young guys? i'm not lecturing any one. i've been respectful. just want to know when are we supposed to act like a union and stand up for some of our rights? if that is not the way the pension fund is set up, then i appologize. not realy in a position to be overly concerned about retirement yet. but why is it that one thing in a statement is taken and scrutinized and the real questions go unanswered? what are we supposed to stand up for? if you senior guys can offer some advise tell us when do we stand up for our rights? we want to "get it" we just dont understand what we are supposed to do. we dont know what to fight for. if our seniority is not worth fighting for what is? no one has ever answered any of these questions, only tried to take something out of a statement and argue. when are we supposed to stand up for ourselves?

I agree Rocky. We better be prepared to fight for getting back things in 2013. I relize times are tough and we have jobs but this contract was rediculous. The Union needs to be planning on standing strong in 2013 with all three tire company's striking at once if need be. Lets give them the work ethic that comes with this kind of contract till then. You get what you pay for!!!!
