To Give Me a Break...you must have a box of rocks between your shoulders where your head should be. Ferguson is an exceptional place to work? LOL. It's exceptional if you enjoy an old boy network that has a company paid retirement plan for their execs, but no retirement plan for all the others...either you put into the 401K or you're out of luck. The benefit package is marginal at best and the financial abuses perpetrated by "senior execs" on the 5th floor of HQ 2 are truly appalling. Ferguson is not only an embarrassment to itself but to the city of Newport News too. It's sad that the "valued associates" at Ferguson don't realize what a joke they look like to the rest of us for working there. Oh and 45 days is enough time to size up the company and realize it should be called Disneyland and all of it's "valued associates" without question should be called "Goofy". I worked there for four years. BTW...I'm sure all the folks working at SAC would certainly appreciate knowing how you look down your nose at them with your typical Ferguson mentality. You're not part of the solution Give, you're clearly part of the problem. I thank God everyday that I'm gone from there and have a real job now.
Your post is absolutely right on point! I too am glad that I am gone from there and have a real job.

While I have heard similar stories about the way staffing is handled at the shared accounting center, the point is moot when it comes to the topic of layoffs. Not a single person from shared accounting was let go due to the staff reduction discussed in this article. On the contrary, I have heard rumors that the associates at shared accounting are exempt from the layoffs.
I think the powers that be at Ferguson are doing the prudent thing to ensure they continue as a company. Sometimes it is necessary to sacrifice the few for the good of the many.

I'd sell my Ferguson stock! Cutting good sales reps = business going under along with the housing markets. Terrible company to work for.

They won't layoff at SAC because those people are the bottom of the food chain in terms of pay at Ferguson and you'd hafta lay off 20 to 40 of them to make one of the execs pay, so they are small potatoes in the financial bucket. Sacrifice the few for the good of many? Crawl out from under your rock...the "few" you reference are real people with real lives..."sacrificing " just one is not acceptable...a "few" is a travesty. You must be one of the sheep in the flock at Ferguson who makes no waves, asks no questions, challenges no crazy decisions, and brags that they work at "headquarters", who although they know what is going on...they continue to take the money, ergo...you must condone how Ferguson do business. Good luck to you and give a fond "BAA" to rest of the spineless wonders working at that horrible company.

FERGUSON HAS 23,000 EMPLOYEES. 200 PEOPLE IS LESS THAN 1% OF THE COMPANY. SIMPLE BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS (NOT THAT YOU'D UNDERSTAND). NEXT TIME YOUR CUTTNG AND PASTING QUOTES FROM GOOGLE TO LOOK INFORMED PLEASE DO SOME RESEARCH.

What an embarassment for a business that has always bragged about how important their people are to them. They cut 200 jobs even though they only had a 1% drop in profit? Way to hang in there with your employees (or "valued associates" as they like to call them) Ferguson.
