The U.S economy could lose nearly $1.8 trillion a year if undocumented workers left the country, according to a report released this week by a group of immigration reform proponents.

For illegal aliens to spend 1.76 trillion each alien would
have to have an income of about $100000 a year.
The people that did this report can't even do third grade math.

"The report, conducted by the Waco-based Perryman Group for Americans for Immigration Reform and released Monday and Tuesday in Houston and Dallas, concludes that undocumented workers are vital to the U.S. economy and that an enforcement-only immigration strategy is unworkable."
This group has for years argued for totally open borders with everyone allowed to raom at will. They are also part of the movement that would like to see a united Canada, US, and Mexico as the North American answer to the EU.
Other than UTEP's suspicious support, no other academic peer review found the report to be acceptable or realistic.
Again, another of the fringe elements trying to put forth their version of the facts to obscure clear violations of existing law.
The answer is to vigorously enforce and prosecute existing law. Not to add additional layers and hoops.

Report "artfully misrepresents the truth".

American jobs are taken by illegal aliens and
their earnings are, mostly, transfered abroad.
The truth is that illegal aliens use to do low skill work that Americans would rather not do, but now that is no longer true and Americans are loosing those job. Further illegal aliens are now starting businesses and taking business contracts away from American businesses...even to the point of causing American businesses to fold. America would gain rather than loose if a definate immigration enforcement took place, because a true immigration policy would truly define the real need for the low skill workers and only then will the borders be secure. America looses othewise.

Hogwash! The 2007 gross domestic product was 13.8 trillion. The labor force is over 153 million including unemployed (5%). Are You trying to tell us that 12 million Illegal Aliens, a portion who do not work at all, drain our social system and tend to be uneducated and unskilled, have a 13% impact on our economy. These people must think Americans are stupid. If all 12 million worked they are less than 1% of our workforce. So 12 million people who because of their Illegal status, can't be fully productive citizens, are poor and usually uneducated, support 13% of our economy? The bleeding hearts scream that these poor people live in poverty and they need our help and embrace and we are racist because we want border control. Then they flip flop and tell us we are the ones who can't live without them because they have such a big impact on the economy. It even says in the article "Most people want to stop illegal immigration, she said, but doing so would inevitably affect the economy because so many companies rely on the inexpensive labor of undocumented workers.

"We all want cheap stuff, and we want good stuff," Coronado said, "but we don't really want to pay for the worker."

Absolutly RIDICULOUS! How are 8.1 million(articles number) Illegal Aliens with low wages having a 13% impact on our economy.

The figures don't lie but the liars always seem to figure.

Our government actually wants a guaranteed slave-labor force in our country, who depend upon the middle-class citizens to pay the costs for them to be here. My father told me forever, do not trust your government. If only I'd paid attention sooner. Well now they have my attention and I don't plan on sitting still, overlooking or just allowing them to have their way any longer. It's sad when you learn there are 77 lobbyists per every senator and congressmen in D.C. Who represents us?

Rich Cane, president of the El Paso Hotel-Motel Association and owner or partner in several area hotels, disagreed with the report's findings.
"Illegal immigrants cost us a lot more than they put in, and we can manage without it," Cane said.

Everyone knows that wages in El Paso are below the national average. I just hope Mr. Cane is doing the right thing and paying his employees a decent salary.

Real research? Like using a calculator to check the articles veracity?$1.8 trillion divided by the 8.1 million illegals that the article claims would require that each illegal (man, woman, and child) impact the economy by more than $222,000/year. Personally I'd like to know how that is possible. If the numbers are accurate (which I very much doubt) then it's obviously more than low wage jobs that illegals are taking.

Kids from the USA including mine can not find a low paying job while they go to collage because all the low paying jobs are given to the illegal people. There are thousand's and thousand's of young US citezens without a job because the American companies hire illegals instead of Americans, but what the American companies do what from American citezens is for you to buy there stuff they want your money.

They can get an ITIN, but last year, only about 330,000 illegal immigrants used an ITIN to file taxes. This guy must have forgotten in TX, MX citizens do not pay sales taxes under the manafestos agreement which is under investigation due to fraud...imagine
Apparently this group forgot, in 2003, a GA senator stated, there was an estimated 20+ million illegals in the country according to the US government.
Illegal immigants cost this country billions and undermind the rights of the American worker. These groups forget about the hidden cost such as the need for more police officers, teacher, translators, damage to our infastructure, over use of our resources.....in short our economy would not collapse, it would save the country billions that could be used to repair our infastructure and give jobs to Americans that will spend their money in the US, not send it tax free to a foreign country.

Losing undocumented workers would give US Citizens, and residents in the US there jobs back and employing those persons who are willing to work and not loose their jobs because an undocumented worker got preferance over them and it's not fair. Undocumented workers/aliens should be returned to their home state and not be able to utilize public benefits. When you work at the Port of Entries you see undocuments aliens/workers trying to get entry using fraudulent documents so they can return back to the US.
It would not cost a trillion, it will help our economy believe or not.

Duh! These latest findings confirm what the Perryman group said about the Texas economy: that the national economy would be destroyed even further if this country answered the pleas of dim-witted, xenophobic conservatives who want to "ship 'em all back to Mexico." And that's the hypocricy of this country -- we don't want "all these Mexicans" here, but we need the good work they do. So instead, we build walls that force them out into the deserts to die to make it look as if we're doing something. How stupid and callous is that? This country is setting itself up for a massive and total collapse.

If they think that, let's find out. I figure it's well worth the risk to get rid of crime, social bleeders, and unjustified consumers of vital public services.

WE can always document them on re-entry, with a nice orderly line, screening for criminal history, disease, and social worthiness.

If they've been here long enoough to have "anchor children" and not done their citizenship paperwork, then they need to get back in line.

What about the national farmers report that there aren't enought people to pick crops? I enjoy all this bull from people all over the country that enjoy going to their local Winn-Dixie, Albertsons or Safeway, Tom Thumb grocery store and just buy their lettuce, tomatoes, chile, onions etc. When there is no one left to pick it because they are all sent back to their countries are you going to volunteer to go pick your own vegetables or pay 15, 20 an hour for a farm worker?
Id like to know which jobs are lost to immigrants according to the Guliani Group? No wonder Rudy lost his bid for president.
I doubt anyone at the Guliani group has EVER lost a job to an illegal or knows anyone that has. Perryman, is not a PRO immigration they are an independent group that studies the economy. The problem here is that yet ANOTHER study comes out that shows how undocumented workers are needed in our economy but those anti-immigration people like Rich Cane,(who probably pays his own workers peanuts), are arguing against it because it goes against all their own rhetoric.
I particularly love those that are out somewhere in NY or another state and wonder what they would do if there were no immigrants to do the jobs they supposedly know Americans would do. It all boils down to prejudice. It shows a MAJORITY are helping, not taking or mooching, they are CONTRIBUTING!! Cane especially has no clue about what he's talking about. Entering illegally is illegal, pay the fine, and move on, get legal residency, pay taxes, add to the economy. Remember..."Liberty and Justice for ALL" or are those just hollow words.

Illegal immigrants fleeing Arizona has brought instant economic prosperity!

http://mensnewsdaily.com/2008/05/15/striking-...
Bring back financial prosperity to your state, by enacting employer predator laws and cutting off all benefits to illegal immigrants.
Very few Republicans have not signed on to the SAVE ACT (4088), while the majority of lesser Democrats stay back in the shadows. Make a difference and tell your Democratic representative to sponsor the SAVE ACT! Next year will be too late...?( 2022243121 )
