Ketan
You have no idea what you are in for with Nielsen.
WE were some of the lowest paid IT deppartments compared to other companies in Florida
In layoffs in the past, they seem to always layoff people that had been there the longest and were making alot of money, regardless of their " shop knowledge".
To quote a famous American Movie regarding layoffs.
"Nothing personel, just business"

I totally disagree with what Ketan has said... It is basically his personal grudge which he is bringing out. At any point of time moveing to some other organisation and that too forcefuuly is not at all a healthy condition for an employee who has worked so far and so long for the company... |

1 Ketan - You appear to be in India and have no ilking of what's happening here at US. You do not know what it feels like for the employees who have been in the company for more than 10 years and have to leave because somebody else is ready to work for less. We, who work as software consultants do not not have a bond with any company because we move company each year expecting higher wages. People here are not just loosing jobs, its their livelihood, homes, children's education and a lot more than you can imagine. So please be more considerate and do not pose such statements in a forum. It also shows us, Indians in bad light. |

Who is better for the company in the long run? People who work for a company, who like working for a company, and want to help the company? Or people who work for a contractor, who don't really care about the company they're hired by, and whose only goal is to meet the conditions of their contract? In all fairness, I'm generalizing about the contractors; but I don't think I'm too far from the truth. |

Will Nielsen have more layoffs?
Is Habib trying to outsource the whole company? Chaz |

Yes. Yes he is.

Ketan doesn't realize how hard Nielsen employees worked to further the company and stay on top. We didn't get here with poor work ethics and political games. We got here through a lot of long hours and quality performance and managed to stay here for years. Our ever expanding media world is going to put an even harder demand on the employees of tomorrow.
As the company is responsible for delivering unbiased ratings information that we've worked so diligently to prove and produce, we have been attacked by organizations who want their media products' ratings higher on the charts. After persevering in court we thought it was over. We were wrong. There is more than one way to skin a cat. Perhaps this isn't an obvious attempt to damage the company's reputation and name and it is only a big money grab for these guys. It is certainly possible. I for one don't believe in coincidence and don't think anyone's diligent work from India will prevent the damage that is about to take place. I also don't believe we have a choice. You would think that the publicity from this site would encourage some response. I don't think any amount of publicity helped Citibank. If GE benefited from these guys, I think it was sheer luck. I don't think our boy quite knew how well a deal it could work out to be back then. He obviously has it down to a science at this point. This is the dark underbelly of the corporate institution. Few really grasp the capacity it has to destroy the humanity in business. And those are the ones left typing anonymous messages on Internet forums late at night wondering, when is my last day... |

I concur with what gloombringer said. When you bring in outscourced ,contracted labor. You're bringing in people who's loyalty is to the company signing their paycheck NOT the site that they're working at. I was part of a group that was cut loose however Nielsen still wanted our service but didnt want to pay us. So we got picked up by the company that provides the outscourcing labor. I'm still here for now but this place is starting to wear on me. I can definitly confirm that the contracted labor brought in doesn't care anything about providing quality work for Nielsen. They're only concern is that paycheck.

We meet Tata last week they have some interesting numbers concerning tech to user ratio.
Hopefully they will realize that deskside support is critical to company success. We shall wait and see |

i definitely agree to this. most of them are loyal to the one feeding them. |

the axe is gonna drop on nielsens infrastructure this year. 700+/- jobs globally. Less than 10% will be retained by nielsen...half of the rest will be offered jobs with tcs + a package...the others will just plain get laid off. the accuracy of that first post is just uncanny. habib denies having any financial interest in tcs...i don't believe him.

gonna be a tcs employee as of 1/1...yay capitalism!
