So much for Macy's star-studded image. They are only good for "great sales." I would be happy to shop at Field's, recession or no recession. I don't see anything appealing at Macy's even if it was free.

Macy's doesn't even do well in this economy;though it's known as America's Biggest Bargain Basement Bin! Guess no one in chicago thinks all that private label crap is a bargain even when it is on the clearance rack at 80% off. Marshall's, TJ Maxx and Nordstrom Rack are all better alternatives versus Macy's. They at least are selling real designers.

I agree Matt. Some guys here at the Firm on LaSalle have dated these kind of women. RUN! And FAST! If she is shopping Forever 21 she is a total skank anyway.

You'd think with all the market research available to retailers like Macy's, they'd be able to figure out what customers want. Haven't they ever heard of the old cliche, "the customer's always right?" No one listens to their customers anymore. Now these companies are suffering the consequences. I have no pity for the people in charge who think they know everything and don't listen to anyone else. I just feel sorry for the poor shlubs who work for them.

Finally the consumer is wising up and rejecting the "consume at all cost" mentality.
Sve your money and invest for the future!

What do you expect when we have trillions of dollars going out of the country in the form of bombs and bullets. Stop and think for a minute what the country would be like if we hadn't attacked Iraq. Blame the Republicans!

I don't pitty people at all that have to trade down from Saks. They are the ones that have the money.

Oh and the reason why the Buckle is doing so well is that teenagers don't have to worry about bills. They sure live a carefree life. But by the time they are adults, they will slapped in the face with reality. So have fun while it lasts.

Treasure Island needs to get a clue and lower their unbelievably high prices. And I got 4 pairs of pants and 2 shirts for $120 at Nordstrom Rack yesterday - the only thing I've bought at Macy's in the past 6 months is food in the food court and that's overpriced too.

Value City has some good deals. You have to hunt around of course, but you can find name-brand designer clothing at very reasonable prices.

so it seems all the WalMart stores will need to carry cheap food, dog fashions, and Shiseido cosmetics to weather this recession. We'll make it.

I go to Loehmann's on State Street. What a great place. They have some great brand names and good prices. Very organized too. I never go to Sears or Macy's.
