We may not have completely converted, but we certainly have turned to a comunist country from which to borrow the money being dished-out to the people who pay little or no taxes. I hope the next generation, which has to pay-off the debt at four times the amount to cover the interest accrued, will feel better about this kind of public financing of incumbents only capaigns than I do today. The stimulous package should have been given in the form of a dedution for Social Security and Medicare payments made, and if that were not enough, they should have allowed a dedution of the full cost of daycare or education expenses. Both of these could have also reduced the state tax burden for most people. Instead, the checks people are getting now will most likely need to be reported as income in 2008, so you better save a bunch of it to pay the State taxes (and possibly the Federal taxes as well) come next April.
