i prefer the 22nd avenue station (aka the double deuce) in NE minneapolis. they don't have tacos, but meat raffles are vastly under-rated in strip clubs these days.

Ok, let me get this straight, the article states: "While small plates make it possible to snack without spending a fortune, they're no bargain, either. A small bowl of fries costs $6. Two little cubes of ball tip steak on a stick are $6. Bread and butter runs $4."

So they are telling me that spending $16 on fries, an appetizer kebab and bread is a "moderate" price? By the time you add a soda to that you are going to be pushing $20. Now maybe I eat cheap when I go out, but if I'm spending $20 a person, I expect a pretty big meal for that.

Kidding? Not at all. If you missed it, someone was complaining that the review amounted to free publicity for the restaurant. I pointed out that the review was mediocre at best, so the owners probably aren't jumping for joy over the free pub. How does that make me "so sensitive?"

What I can't figure out is why would anyone open a business in St Paul? Particularly on the East side, where crime and cheap people rule. Whose going to spend that much on a meal when 98% of the neighborhood is on some type of entitlement. I give them nine months.
Wow Phylis, pretty harsch comments about the neighborhood. Do you even know where this restaurant is? And to say all Eastsiders are cheap is insulting. The East Side is not filled with crime and not every one in St. Paul is on Welfare, like you are implying at.

What's really sad is that this misogynist restaurant can get so much free publicity just by having what they think is a funny, witty name. Personally, I'm surprised this even got by the licensing department of the city when obviously it should not have.

Can we all just stop talking about this place?

No, we can't and we won't because The Strip Club, if it figures out an answer to the value proposition, could be one of best restaurants in our city. It has some work to do in that department, but Johnson and Niver are two pretty smart cookies and I think they'll be able to do it. Town Talk was and is one of the better dining experiences and values in the Twin Cities and I think they'll tweak some things here to make the Strip Club much the same. I'm hopeful that they do, not only to add to St. Paul's dining scene, but to continue to irritate the prudes who can't get past it.

I'm sorry you have such a closed mind and are unable to appreciate dry humor and a creative play on words. But the name here simply refers to the signature item, the NY strip steak, on the menu. It has nothing to do with adult entertainment. I'm sorry to inform you, but there is no live dancing or entertainment at the restaurant. Obviously, the city liscening department understood the joke and creativity. You don't and that's going to be your loss in the long run. For you to be unable to understand that simply shows you're own narrow view of the world, the language, and really, a lack of any sense of humor.

Definition: Misogynist - A man who hates women.)

Men who attend strip clubs don't hate women, Mrs. R. Quite the opposite, actually. And there are strip clubs where men strip too. But what we're talking about is a restaurant that derives its name from a play on words. There's a cut of meat called the strip steak. So think about that long and hard. And then go back to your boring life and do my laundry.

You must be surprised constantly if your panties are in a bunch over this name of a restaurant.

Nothing remarkable about their strip. The sauce selection nearly make it worth its price. Nearly...

Sounds like Mrs. R needs some "attention" if you know what I mean.
