"Riiight, Califruity has so many "Conservative" Judges.. Get a clue, the state is loaded with liberal weeners, and the Judges are elected by the same liberal tree-hugging weeners"
RESPONSE: I just love when the ignorant think THEY are the ones with a clue. Educate yourself. |

"I believe in people paying their own way."
RESPONSE: Well, I believe that since my tax dollars, in part, pay for the education of heterosexual married peoples' children, I, too, should have the civil right to marry the person of my choice. Cheers, thanks a lot. |

"Or one of your pets too"
RESPONSE: Ah, and yet again, the argument of fools. How original. |

After George Takei and Ellen get married I expect a deluge of "closeted" gays to come out to get married. Once the anti-gay crowd realizes they have relatives that are gay public opinions should change. I think the referendum will fail this time around. PS: There are more than two parties to vote for. Democrats and Republicans are often two sides of the same coin. |

I don't understand how black people could all this way and then vote for discrimination. Of all groups of people, to do this to other people is just horrifying. I don't understand how one person's marriage affects ANYONE else's marriage. How? What difference does it make? I don't care what you do - go marry your sister for all I care. This is nuts and mean.

Just as "the people have spoken" on the presidency, the people have spoken on this ammendment. Shut up and accept it!

I think she's sad (or is it dissapointed?) because deep inside she now sees that this issue is not a "democrat - progressive - more illuminated" issue as Gays usually think. If this were the case it would've pass overwhelmingly. This election, not to take anything from Obama, was more a Bush referendum than anything else....

What scares us is the fact that your different but want to be looked upon as equal under a definition of marriage.
That's mental illness

I am not against homosexuals having equal benefits as married couples, but I think the underlying reason most people don't support gay marriage is because it has no underlying basis attached to it.
Logical Argument- It doesn't produce anything for society. What does gay marriage due to improve the society we live in? Homosexuals can't reproduce unless they adopt. Studies have shown that children who are raised in homosexual households may become sexually confused and\or have behaviorial difficulties later in adult life. Many homosexual advocates feel that if divorce rates are so high this shouldn't be a factor, but this is an argument on the failure of marriage. Not the purpose or existence of marriage. Religious - All religions frown upon homosexuality. Homosexual marriage would basically be celebrating it in the face of all religions. Even if you are athiest or agnostic, many religions still have an enormous impact in American society. The religious argument can be dismissed by many homosexuals, but it can't be discounted. As long as religion exists, there will be opposition to gay marriage. This is a fact whether you agree or disagree with relgious believers. Scientific - Homosexuality is often defined as a behavioral anomaly inside the brain. Scientists don't know what causes it nor can they confirm if people are born with it or acquire it through childhood. But statistical instances of homosexuality is miniscule in comparison to the world's overall heterosexual population. Therefore, as a small percentage it will always be treated as such and not have the same clout or respect as traditional marriages between a man and a woman. I think what bothers most heterosexuals about gay marriage is that if a person decides to make a lifestyle choice they then demand that society conform to their definition of existing norms. This comes across as arrogant and also overbearing. I think gays would have a better chance at equality if they defined gay marriage as something else. This would afford them the same benefits as married couples which is what they ultimately want. To change definition of marriage that is thousands of years old to accomodate one small fraction of society opens up a plethora of new problems when ever special interest group wants to redefine things we have taken for granted all along. Some change is good, but you have to ask yourself what advantages that change will bring and how does it benefit society as a whole. |
