(...) As for "Our greatest living guitarist"... Dude, what rock have you been under? There was a time when Eddie WAS arguably the greatest but now... I don't EVEN think so NOT EVEN CLOSE. John Petrucci (Dream Theater), Eric Johnson, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai... Those names ring any bells or are you living in a vacuum?(...) What made Van Halen so great was the chemistry that the members generated together. All this is is another incarnation of the "Van Halen" title...(...)

Thanks for thinking of us... NOT.
Retire and be done with it.
Ken... in fact, John Petrucci, Steve Vai, Steve Morse, Nuno Bettencourt, Joe Satriani and (mainly) Steve Vai are great guitarists that one always admire and love to hear/see playing. I've been fortunate enough to watch each and everyone of these guys live (at least twice) as well as Van Halen and what they've written and what they play live makes EVH a special one... for obvious reasons.

Reason no. 1) Eruption.
Reason no. 2) Two 10x Platinum albums.
Reason no. 3) Breakthru in guitar construction.
Reason no. 4) Everyone has EVH as a reference or influence.
Reason no. 5) You might as well Jump... as none of the other guys can play an intense concert like VH (any lineup) can.

I personally like Steve Vai, Eric Johnson and Steve Morse a lot, but none has his name engraved in rock history like Edward Van Halen...

And even if I didn't agree with the band changing of lineups (I happen to think that Gary Cherone would have produced a great second album with them, and also that Mitch Malloy would also have fit like a glove), I don't think that they owe it to the fans in order to change who they are... the fans always have the option of buying or not buying a record, or attending or not attending a concert.

The way tickets have been flying, the response seems to be a clear one.

What made Van Halen so great was their records and live performances. What made EVH so great was EVH himself.

Take care... and go see a concert without any pre-judgements; you may happen to like it !!!

i only thing i can say, eddie has been on the bottle a little to long. if he thinks some 15 yr old kid can replace mad mike , eddie i think you should switch to crack. alex needs to get some balls and tell his druck brother to get his head out of his ass. wolfie could not even tune mikes bass. dave be smart and stay out. this the down fall of van halen
My man Ed may have a drinking problem but wake up it's called meth. I have met him several times in the last 30 years, in the early 80's all the way to the mid 90's Eddie was "himself". I had front row tickets twice during the 2004 summer tour and in fact had the opportunity to see the band run through sound check. After soundcheck Michael and Alex came down and signed autographs and told everyone how much they appreciated our support. As for Eddie he just exited stage right we weren't worth his time.. heck we only spent $400 to be there. I've seen many good people be taken down by "ice" gang he isn't clean ...not even close. When asked to speak in interviews and such he is always fidgety, mumbling and making incoherent statements. My god in the Tour press conference someone asked ED something like "you canceled the start of this tour because you felt you weren't at 100 percent..before the reporter even finished her question...Ed interupts and states definately "because I am!"..what,huh, what, come again?. His drug addiction is completely obvious, becoming secluded, withdrawn is classic and until he goes through long term rehab Ed will continue to sabatoge his existence.

Roth & Ed getting back together is like heaven. You will all be surprised. Yes I wish Mike was there, but it will work. I heard Wolfgang is a prodigy of his Dad... They will be the highlight of 2007/08 Music. You'll See..

FOR ME, A MUSICIAN, I'M GOING TO CLEVELAND AND SEE THE SHOW WITH GREAT SEATS. I'M GOING TO ENJOY A GREAT BAND. WHILE IT'S TRUE MIKE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN DITCHED, DISRESPECTED, AND SCREWED OVER, IT IS WHAT IT IS. I'M BETTING WOLFGANG WILL DO JUST FINE AND THE BACK UP VOCALS WILL BE THERE. HE WILL PROBABLY LAY DOWN THAT ROCK SOLID BASS JUST LIKE MIKE DID. ANY GOOD MUSICIAN CAN DUPLICATE PARTS AND PLAYERS. ALL GREAT MUSICIANS DO COVERS ALL THE TIME. THAT'S WHAT WOLFGANG WILL ESSENTIALLY BE DOING. WHICH IS PROBABLY WHY EDDIE KEEPS SAYING WOLFGANG HAND PICKED THE SONGS THEY'RE DOING. WHICH MEANS HE WILL MAXIMIZE HIS STRENGTHS AND MINIMIZE HIS WEAKNESS. WHICH IS EXACTELY WHAT GOOD MUSICIANS DO ALL THE TIME, WHETHER THEY'RE 15 OR 90 YEARS OLD. THAT'S SIGN OF A GOOD MUSICIAN. IT IS TRUE THIS WILL BE A DIFFERENT BAND WITHOUT MIKE BUT IT'S ALSO TRUE INJECTING SOME YOUTH INTO A BAND THAT'S BEEN AROUND ALONG TIME WILL BE EXCITING. THINK OF IT AS AN NFL FOOTBALL TEAM GETTING ROOKIE PLAYERS. THE TEAM'S ESSENTIALLY THE SAME WITH SOME NEW PLAYERS BUT SOMETIMES THEY CAN PLAY HARDER AND BETTER. GIVE A NEGATIVE OPINION AFTER YOU SEE A SHOW THIS YEAR. OH, I'M SORRY, YOU MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO, MOST ARE SOLD OUT.

Van Halen are at the end....
Hi Robbie ~ I feel your pain!!! Although I disagree on one level; this is the end of Eddie. Such a shame. Admittedly he is one of the greatest guitar players to ever hit the stage. However, his prowess has fallen victim to his fucking self absorbed ego maniacal ways. Hey, let's face it. First Valerie, then, David, then Sammy, then Gary Cherone (big mistake!), now Michael. WTF! Alcohol had a lot to do with the first three but, come on!

I put this guy on a pedestal with Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Carlos Santana, etc. Hey, he's a great guitar player but, he's a "dick" plain and simple!

Sorry Wolgang; I'll wait for the video of your dad crashing & burning (rather than his trademark guitar). How sad.

That a-hole was in detox when Sammy & Michael were on stage praising him and wishing him the best at the Hall of Fame Awards.

Honestly, I feel bad for Wolfy. Yeah, he can get caught up in the fame and ride the tide but the bottom line is he is always going to come back to the fact that "my Dad is an asshole"!

I am a purest and I have always wanted to see Diamond Dave get back with Eddie but I won't pay for this show.

Attention: Van Halen members are not up for Nobel Prizes or anything... they're just human beings (or humans being).

Both on and off stage, they'll do things right and wrong, but ultimately one must appreciate them as musicians... I don't know anyone of them personally, so I don't have personal opinions nor I care about it.

Let's not feed the soap opera.
It's irrelevant.

The only thing I have to mention is that I find THE TICKETS ARE EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE... without an apparent reason for it.

It doesn't matter what the F*&^% anybody thinks. They're the ones (HV) who are rejuvenating their careers and passion. They're the ones living out their dreams. Are you? All the guitar wanna b's and the groupeeeeeeeeees doesn't add up to shit. Either accept the new VH for what they are, or retreat to your room and put on their stuff from the 70's and pretend you're 15; even though you're 50. Oh!! and don't forget your black light and florescent posters.

I enjoyed Van Hagar more than the original lineup. Diamond Dave makes my stomach a little queasy. HE is soooo greasy and New Yorkish...

I wish them well, however. I just wish Ed would quit the drugs and get over himself. There is no real reunion without Michael.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Capricorn

You feel like overindulging yourself in some way today, and why not? Throw caution to the wind and eat your way through a big bar of chocolate, or have a retail therapy session that leaves you reeling from the amount of money you've spent. There's a definite chance you could get carried away and tell a whopper of a story that has little resemblance to what really happened. What on earth has got into you?
