Full story: LiveDaily

It turns out that Eddie Van Halen wasn't kidding when he told Howard Stern during an early September interview that his son, 15-year-old Wolfgang Van Halen, had taken over as the legendary rock group's new bass ...

What a display of disrespect for Michael Anthony. His bass playing, his backing vocals are such an important factor to the Van Halen sound. This is completely ridiculous!!

I agree with both of you. It's a real shame to see this, and i'm not saying wolfgange isn't good enough, but these guys are one of the most influental rock bands of all time, and mike has more experance than wolfgange, way i see it this isn't a very good move by EvH. He might be able to play bass but can he do backup Vocals?

The gapping ole here is MA had a great voice. HE was the high registery on all those classic songs. Try imagining the vocals of "Beautiful Girls" topped off by terrified, pubescent boy. God, talk about fodder for late night comedy. And while Eddie is on Howard Stern trashing MA, MA will have the last laugh. All he has to do is sit back and let this latest incarnation of Van Halen take form. The result will speak for itself. Unfortunately.

Man, the looks of Michael being replaced by Ed's son is terrible. If it wasn't for Michael, this band would have fallen apart in less than a year. The band of Van Halen might as well quit now while they're ahead, because things with Wolfgang are just going to make things worse! Poor Ed needs to lay off the drugs and alchohol and see what the !@#$% he's doing!

Ross Halfin was up to Edward's recently and this is what he had to say.

"----------

"Head off to meet up with Edward Van Halen. It is hot today and I'm in black which doesn't help my thumping head. I feel like I'm being cooked in the sun - tortured...
Edward is in a great mood, he's easy to work with. And I'm not saying who or what I shot, but I will tell you Edward played a couple of cds which I thought were from 1978 (it was from two days ago) of Van Halen rehearsing with Wolfgang Van Halen on bass. It was jaw-droppingly amazing. They played On Fire, I'm The One, Atomic Punk. I'm not listing the rest, but I will tell you the band sounded untouchable. On Jamie's Crying they did a long bass-lead jam on the intro - the band rocked. I don't like that word (too American) but the band rock - really rock. It was as exciting as the first time I saw them. They will come back and destroy the world. One of the tightest, freshest sounding groups ever. I want to go and play the first album as soon as I get home. Had a blast listening to them, it made me remember why I liked music in the first place. Having Edward's son on bass has rejuvenated them.
They were rehearsing later that afternoon. I was invited - I wish I was staying..."

My 1st VH show was 7/17 81 at Madison Square Garden. That day I converted from guitar to bass. At 16 Mikey influenced me to be a bass player if you can be the backbone of this type of band you made the band and made them a legend. Mikeys vocals are 2nd to none. I was in a VH tribute band and like so many bass players in VH bands can never...ever match the vocals of Mikey. He's got the biggest balls for a small pint size wiskey drinkin MF. Ed...get off the crack and heinekins...get Mike back...need the Fantastic 4...let Wolfy grown to his own and get his own friggin band...Dave...DONT FRIGGIN DO IT..Ed dsent get it..Sammy barely carried the band..Gary screwed it up..so what does history teach you Ed...you need the total package. A car cant run without the correct muffler. You really screwed this hot rod up for good. Go back to Golf. maybe you can forge your way to the masters...thats your best bet.
Long Live VH '78 thru '84...anything else without Mikey and Dave is just selfish...do it for the fans ED...you money hungry ego-tystical maniac. Im so disappointed.

LADIES AND GENTILMEN
I GIVE YOU THE MIGHTY VAN HALEN.

EDDIE VAN HALEN
ALEX VAN HALEN
MICHAEL ANTHONY
DAVID LEE ROTH.

OH!..IM SORRY...IM STILL IN MY TIME CAPSULE.

WOW 20 YRS LATER AND THEY STILL HAVEN'T GOTTEN THEIR **** TOGETHER! SAMMY ,GARY, WOLFIE...WHO THE **** ARE THEY?

ITS JUST TOO BAD...AND SO SAD.

(BACK IN THE TIME CAPSULE...KISS GOT BACK TOGETHER IN '96 REUNITED FOR 6 YRS BEFORE DEPARTING AGAIN?)..AND BOYS...THEY DID IT FOR THE FANS..."AND" CLEANED UP ALL OVER THE WORLD. IT SEEMS THAT THAT KISS REUNION LASTED LONGER THAN THE ORIGINAL VH LINEUP FROM '78-84..AND KISS HAS BEEN AROUND FOR 32 YRS THROUGH ALL KINDS OF PHASES.

EDDIE VAN HALEN WAS DONE A LONG TIME AGO...IF YOU WANT TO DREAM...LIKE SAMMY SAID
" THE DREAM IS OVER"
..GET BACK INTO A TIME CAPSULE ...THATS THE ONLY WAY TO SEE THE ORIGINAL IN THEIR BEST SHOW.
LETS FACE IT....DAVE CAN'T EVEN SING ANYMORE. AND THEY WANT TO DO IT FOR THE MONEY..NOT FOR ANY FAN.
ENOUGH SAID!

Eddie has no idea what he is doing.. can anyone defend Gary Cherrone and the stage play done during each concert..

I thought for a minute.. just for a minute.. that when Van Hagar got back together for their last tour that maybe..just maybe.. we'd se a new album with Eddie, Alex, Sammy and Mike which would kick **** and start it all over again..

Think clearly.. do it for the fans.. get Sammy, David, Michael, Wofie together and make a combined kick **** double album, go out on tour and send a message to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.. VAN HALEN Rocks.. Name the album GENERATIONS of Change

Why are all these people squawking about VH not being good without Michael Anthonys backup vocals?
VH was pretty good when they brought Sammy aboard
Different lead vocals, however they cranked out some great stuff, give the kid a break before you pass judgement.

One more thing without Eddie there would be no Van Halen
Eddie and only Eddie is,was, whatever, the musical genius behind VH, and NOT Dave, Mike or Alex.
