Stop grousing

I think if I hear one more idiot in El Paso grousing at the gas pump blaming Democrats for the high price of gasoline, I will scream.

So many of them just keep on parroting the John McCain garbage of, "we have to drill here and drill now" stupidity.

What most people don't realize is that the main reason for the high price of gasoline has been largely brought about our massive budget and trade deficits that the Bush administration has run up to record- setting levels over the past seven years of his administration.

The logic is very simple: The more jobs that the rich Republicans outsource and send overseas, the higher our trade and budget deficits go, which has the net effect of devaluating the dollar on the world market, making anything that we import more expensive -- including energy resources like oil and gasoline that are about 70 percent imported from foreign countries.

If Americans really want to see lower prices at the gas pump, they would probably do better to complain more about their jobs being outsourced to cheap labor markets around the world than blaming Democrats for not drilling for oil offshore.

Brendan Boyd / West El Paso

Mr. Boyd,
Every time you write here we can tell you try very hard to sound informed and intelligent. Unfortunately for you failure is the only result. Your point of view is completely wrong and way off base. Stop sounding so angry and try to research your topic. Any informed voter knows that dumbocraps are the root of all evil and failure in this country. I know you Libs will never admit it because it's hard to come to terms with always being wrong. Maybe you should walk or buy a bike and take your self out of the gas consumption loop. It seems to be making you very unhappy. Just the fact that you blame the President for all the ills of the world discredits you. Your opinion is ridiculous however everyone is entitled to stupidity. That's OK , I can still afford gas no matter how much a gallon and it appears you can't. Maybe you should move out of the west side it might help your budget and alleviate some of your anger and apparent frustration. You have written a couple times about gas prices and it sounds like your budget is stretched a bit thin. I hope my recommendations have helped. Have a nice day.

Stop and look in the mirror MR OGI. It is you that sounds unintelligent and uninformed. I am sad that you took the word elitist out of your name, because it fit to a T.

Another diversion tactic (lies) by the Republican party. They have had absolute power in Washington for the last 8 yrs, and look what we have.
It amazes me how they WILL NOT take responsibility for anything.
Then they have parrots(OGI) that squawk the same tired old c/rap they've been saying for the last 8 yrs. Make sure you tune into the Rushlimpball show tomorrow OGI so you can be told what to say.

BTW: How'd you like the Priest concert?

OGI---like most radical Republicans in their enormous STATE OF DENIAL---has to use words of personal attack rather than sound argument. The pen is sometimes mightier than the sword, but your pen and mind, sir OGI, is not; it is vacuous, venemous, and wooden. Dumbocraps?

On one other letter, I support a referendum to reverse the pay increase of the commissioners. When do we vote next? Let's get the ball rolling.

Well, McCain did approve of off-shore drilling BUT he also is for the rights of the States to say yea or nay. So McCain isn't really putting himself out on a limb because he knows that the Ca. Gov. will not lift the sactions. Its easy to be for something when you full well that it will never happen. So, as Chick Hearn always said, no harm nor foul.

You attacked him on a semi-personal level, but you really didn't address anything he stated. THAT is unintelligent and uninformed.

The Republicans have NOT been in total control of D.C. for the last 8 years. The democrats have had a majority in the House of Representatives AND the Senate for the last two years. And these record breaking trade deficits and the ever increasing budget deficit have sky-rocketed during these last two years. Democrats aren't called "Tax-and-Spend Democrats" for no reason. Democrats are usually backed by unions, which have been the single biggest factor in jobs going overseas, because they demand more and more benefits, higher and higher pay, but don't want to do anything extra in return for it. The President didn't tell the CEOs of major American corporations to out-source those jobs, and they wouldn't listen to him if he did, because he's not their boss, and therefore has no control over them.
As for your "squawking parrots," Go take a look in the mirror. Liberals across the nation have been squawking for change in response to Obama's campaign slogan, but not a single liberal can answer the simple question, "What change do you want?" Other than to say, "No more Bush!" Well, he's at the end of his second term, and so you're not getting Bush anymore. Now, what other change do you want?
BTW, Rush is a washed up commentator, and has been for quite some time. He, and O'Reilly, are blow-hards who like to hear the sound of their own voices, hence, informed conservatives barely bother to pause long enough to hear them rant about what they think is important anymore.
As for the letter that OGI was referring to, the writer IS an uninformed ignoramoose. The government has NO control over gas prices. None, nada, zip. Consumers, that'd be us, have only LIMITED control. So, if we all drove Toyotas, Hondas, Isuzus, Mitsubishis, etc.; and stayed away from Mustangs, Broncos, Navigators, Towncars, Hummers, Rams, Silverados, etc. gas prices wouldn't be as high as they are. They'd still be high, because the oil / gas companies CAN set them as high as they want, since gas is a... NECESSITY. If you don't like it, trade in your gas guzzler for a gas sipper (Don't forget to take your greenpeace bumper sticker off first, Mr. Gore), and then invest in Ethanol. Don't bother attacking me, because I don't respond to personal attacks simply because that's asanine. If you have something of substance to argue your point, I suggest you think long and hard about it, bounce it off of someone else with some intelligence, and then we can talk.

And you're... NOT resorting to words of personal attack rather than sound arguement here?

OGIs choice of referral towards Democrats is juvenile... just as your fellow liberals referral to "Repuglicans, McBush, etc." However, his arguement was very sound. Much more so than your response to his arguement, which, like your previous poster, had no substance about his arguement. Both of you have basically said "You're an idiot!" in response to an arguement. That's not a rebuttal of the arguement. In fact, were this a debate class, liberals as a whole on these forums would fail miserably, because "You're an idiot!" doesn't answer the points with counterpoints. It's actually a sign of victory on the others part, because it shows that you have no arguement, and lies and misinformation are not an arguement. You've tried arguing with me before, and you gave up because you had no points worth arguing that had any basis in reality. Would you like to try again?

The arguments here about the choice of words (non-words) insults and accusations are childish beyond belief.

In the last almost 8 years our country has seen a mass exodus of decent paying jobs to foreign countries because they can make a bigger profit with a free importation of their products under the free trade acts than they could get by making them here with American Citizen labor. Big business only cares about the bottom line- Big Bucks in their pockets.

If we had people in congress and the White House who could see beyond the ends of their stock options in those companies they would be reducing the free trade agreements to assist only those companies which are wholly owned and operated by the citizens of the exporting country and not by the American companies who moved to cash in on the bigger bucks at the risk of causing a complete failure of the US economy. Sure Dell move all your customer service to India and pay 3 rupees a day to someone to read a set script instead of hiring someone who can actually speak English to assist your customers. Meanwhile you keep raking in big bucks from your computers which has components built in China, assembled in Korea and sell via the internet or newspaper......lower overhead and who cares about customer loyalty or satisfaction or the quality of the product?

Wait a minute! I just realized that there are no Democrats outsourcing jobs to other countries. I never knew that Republicans were the only business people in the country. Gosh, Mr. Boyd, you certainly are learned. By the way, scream loudly enough so that I can hear you all the way to the east side. You're funny.

Oh stop Mr. Tims, We have all had enough of your socialist rants. Not true about Republican power in D.C. you revisionist. The Left took control of congress 4 years ago which coincidentally is when everything started to go left or as I like to call it "to sshitt" Clinton had 8 years of a Republican congress which is why he is given credit for the wonderful state of the union. Now you tell me how he could be responsible for that when he was spending all his time blowing his nut on Monica. Finally where have you been? I have missed exposing you for the socialist you are. ;-P

BTW-I didn't go to the concert

My comments were less attacks on OGI, than on his rhetoric. True, my "pen" was filled with its own acidic ink. Critics such as yourself like to cut off the head an argument or of the "liberals" (and I see myself more as a conservative...one who wanted to conserve by not spending trillions on a wasteful invasion of Iraq, for example...or one who thinks that the 50 plus percent of corporations who DO NOT PAY FEDERAL TAXES should. And maybe it isn't a liberal or conservative position, but a patriotic position. Get away from the limitations of labels. That also is not sound argument, but only perpetuates the attack mode. Give me specifics on topics and I can debate them. But just liberally smearing a writer with narrow generalizations and dogmatic language does not make for constructive dialogue. What generalities and what dogmatic language?

Like these [YOUR WORDS]: "NO substance" [Be more specific]
"you had NO POINTS worth arguing" [Be more specific]
"'no' BASIS IN REALITY [Be more specific]
"liberals AS A WHOLE"

"You've tried arguing with me before, and YOU GAVE UP" [No I didn't, but that's your narrow and generalized accusative opinion.]

Like these [OGI's words]: "Your point of view is COMPLETELY WRONG"
"dumbocraps are the root of ALL EVIL" [What an asinine and meaningless generality. Sound argument AND REASONING?]
"ALWAYS being wrong"
"Everyone is entitled to STUPIDITY."
And then there is that cute little sarcasm for a parting shot: "Have a nice day."

You're the one who's slinging the word idiot.
Your hero that you so admire and defend,
George W. Bush, DID what you so liberally accuse me of having: LIES AND MISINFORMATION NOT AN ARGUMENT. Get on your horse, and give me more specific topics and points to debate (NOT ARGUE...your word).

You're right it might be juvenile. I like to fight fire with napalm. I do not hate these socialists liberals. I simply call them on their posts. I do stand corrected on the date of the change of congress. Dems gained 5, Rep lost 6= 49/49 with 2 ind. Sanders and Lieberman who caucus with the Dems. It was the election of 06. I made a MISTAKE. Another difference between the left and right. I checked my post and realized I put a wrong date and owned up.

Ugghh! OGI...how petty, puerile, and impolite you are with your "shrouded" words of filth and innuendoes:

"sshitt"

"blowing his nut"

How very unconstructive!

This IS PERSONAL ATTACK.

Miss Bugged,
I won't debate you because I don't find you informed or fixed on a platform of consistency. I find your posts full of rants by a person attempting to sound more informed and intelligent than you really are. You remind me of that saying "If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with BBullshitt. Have a nice day.

No, you won't because you are able. You are affixed to your own close-minded, narrow, and generalized, sarcastic slander. You cannot assert rationally any topics with which I can debate you on, so you slam the door on open-mindedness, and continue with vilification rather than rational discourse. So far you fixed with writing that is mainly foul-mouthed rant. You have no ideas of substance, so you merely opine with youe obscenities. I can't have a nice day after I just read your latest personal attack---but I guess that is your whole point, your entire modus operandi, and your raison d'etre. As Voltaire told us, DEFINE YOUR TERMS. And what the heck does "fixed on a platform of consistency" mean? Buy a thesaurus and read the Great Books. I don't mean this as a personal attack.
