"If the foreign flight attendants are younger then 50 years of age, have wastes less then isle width and smile, this airline has a future"

I hope you reap what you sow, you pathetic and small-minded man. Nice spelling, you are obviously very educated and worthy of young (thin) maidens responding to your every whim. FYI--I am young and thin and you disgust me.

The good news is that you can use your NW frequent flyer miles on Continental since they code share. As a former CO f/a, and later a manager during the dark days of Frank Lorenzo, it is most gratifying to see that CO has again become the fantastic company it once was.
Father of the bride wrote:
I have been a Northwest flyer for more than 20 years, and a "silver elite" member for nine of the past 10 years, having flown at least 25,000 miles each of those years. But after the mechanics struck last August and when I learned that Northwest executives had just shared a million dollars in bonuses and one of its chief officers had sold millions in stock to enrich himself, I felt I could no longer be a customer in good conscience. I was even more disgusted when I learned that Northwest was outsourcing flight attendants' work to low-wage overseas employees. The upshot is that my wife and I cancelled our Northwest tickets (paying a penalty) which we had earlier purchased for our daughter's wedding out west. We then bought new tickets on Continental, via Houston. To our pleasant surprise, Continental provided us with pillows, blankets, even peanuts, as well as a hot sandwich and a free movie -- all in coach class, and all services that Northwest had discontinued. And we learned by talking to the friendly and helpful Continental employees that they were covered by union contracts. The bottom line, for us, is that if an airline has problems, there should be equality of sacrifice--from top to bottom--and that it should treat its customers and its workers fairly and with dignity. That is not the case with Northwest, and until airline management changes its ways, I won't be flying with them. I have a large number of unused frequent flyer miles in my Northwest bank, but I guess those are the breaks. For the time being, Northwest has lost my business and that of my family.

Thought I'd pass this along:

Dear Senator / Congresswomen / man,

I write to you as a U.S. taxpayer, one whom demands all the protection and support expected from the elected officials we hire. The outsourcing scheme of Northwest Airlines current management has by now, become well known.

The men and women of the aviation industry request your immediate assistance in halting this outrageously unAmerican attempt to hand our aviation industry over to "cheap foreign labor", many of whom are from a COMMUNIST nation.

Now is the time for you, our hired elected officials, to demonstrate why we should keep you in Washington after November.2006. We do not need more investigations, or rhetoric, we need action and we demand it now.
The assault on the American Middle Class has been unabated . It’s ravages has gone from one industry to another.

The level of corporate greed that has fanned the flames of outsourcing in search of "cheap foreign labor" is unparalleled in American history. It is time that we, the American people whom sent you to Washington, demand that you step up to the plate and do the job you were sent to Washington for.

It is time you do your duty and protect our national security (by not sacrificing the safety of the American public in the skies for "cheap foreign labor". Allow me to remind you, it was American expertise, ingenuity, and professionalism that spread aviation around the globe. To hear airline CEO’s speak that we are “incapable of providing international service” is noting less than a slap in the face of every American alive today (and the dead ones that built this great nation). The very fact that these CEOs have the audacity to attempt this is an affront to the very foundations of this nation.

It is nothing less than code…meaning.“we want to replace American employees with "cheap foreign labor" (from a COMMUNIST nation) in order to continue our outrageous bonuses and grow Senior management’s personal wealth”. During another time this would have been considered nothing less than HIGH TREASON.

We demand you produce legislation revoking the international route authorities of any U.S. airline that attempts to replace American employees with cheap foreign labor. This is within the power of the legislative branch of Federal government. This corporate scheme places the safety of the American public at risk at a level as dangerous as pre 9/11. Do you want the responsibility of having to answer to the American public as to why nothing was done if an American airliner goes down because of outsourcing?

We intend to place every politician in office today, on record as to where they stand in regards to airline outsourcing.

You can’t have it both ways. You cannot spend Billions of our dollars on a false smoke screen of “Homeland Security” then turn around and allow some of the most security sensitive jobs in our nation, to be turned over to "cheap foreign labor". We will be taking note as to who steps up to the plate, and who does not.

We begin this push for legislation now, and come Nov. 2006 with our votes we will punish those who do not take a stand to protect this industry and the American public. Make no mistake there are millions of us located in every state and of every political persuasion.

Outsourcing does not discriminate as to red or blue, north or south, east or west, Democrat or Republican. We will be setting up a website tracking the involvement and the non involvement of all politicians from each and every state.

We want action now.

Are you some kind of knuckle-dragging mouth-breathing Neanterthal? Are we supposed to just throw away anyone over 50? A very special woman in my life is 50+ and a 20+ year NWA F/A, and no, she doesn't have the body she did 30 years ago (do YOU? don't lie!) But I don't know of a finer woman, and you should be so lucky as to have her serve you on your next flight. Without ever meeting you, I feel confident in saying she is a better woman that you are a man!!

Do you guys realize that we had only one quarter of recession caused by the internet stock bubble since President Bush took office? The economy has been growing at a pretty good pace for the last 5 years and you should take a look at the job creation numbers, you'll be surprised.
The job creation numbers come from the Labor Department and the Secretary of Labor reports to our "above board" President Bush. Do you think the labor stats are accurate?
Nothing this administration spits out is true or accurate. Maybe you should go duck hunting with the VP and he can fill you in on the real story.

Not while George Bush is president.
I am a Northwest flight attendant about to lose my job. Mr. Bush says don't be afraid of jobs being outsourced to Asians, then he tells us of a plot by "Asians" against terrorist attacks planned for California in 2002. I'm not afraid as concerned about terrorist attacks as I am about the people "leading" this country. Just where are they leading us?

THANK YOU! I am a NW flight attendant and I am tired of apologizing all the time for Northwest's lack of, well, just about everything. They don't care about their passengers, they don't care about their employees, they only care about their pocket books.

Hey Pig...First of all, learn how to spell. Second, I'm a flight attendant with over 30 years of experience and know my job inside and out. These cute little China Dolls can't even arm their doors correctly and their command of the English language is sorely lacking...I know because I've flown with them. May I wish you a heart attack on your next flight and see how quickly the cheap help responds. They'll most likely come running to their US counterpart for assistance. Oh wait a minute...that might be me with my "aisle-width" waist. Hm. Let's see how quickly I respond.

If management gets thier way about outsourcing flight attendant jobs why would the owners of NWA not do one better and outsource the CEO's and all other upper managements jobs to overseas people. because I'm sure there are people overseas with the qualifications just as good as the ones who run this company but willing to work for much less, no bonuses, and no retirement benefits. NWA could save more money on that idea than outsourcing flight attendant jobs.

Just because we work for an airline does'nt mean we were exempt from the cost of living going up or did I miss that memo? Let the shoe be on the other foot and someone elses job be going overseas, it's different! It's amazing that for upper management preforming poorly they get big bonuses two weeks before we claim bankruptcy. As long as I can remember I have never been givin a bonus for preforming poorly, maybe get my tail end chewed out! I can't go to another airline and get a job with the experience I already have I have to start at the bottom again! People don't realize that or how much free time we give, like not getting payed while passengers are boarding and deplaining! I don't get payed until the aircraft brakes are released. If only the whole picture could only be seen!!!!

People also need to realize it's not the employee's who took the meals, pillows, blankets, ect..... off the planes! That was made decisions from upper management! I do the best job I can do with the tools I have to work with and go out of my way to make the flights I work be the most inviting. Like we all do!!!! NWA has always been known through out the industry of always working short handed in all areas! Everyone can only give so much. Not once have we heard upper management offering to go without for the sake of saving the airline. The employee's have always been the ones to give, don't you think if upper management lead by example, instead of do as I say, maybe just maybe we as employee's would be willing to give, instead of being beaten down all the time? Upper management never gives an atta boy or job well done! You only hear the bad things. Also if one person does something wrong the whole group has to pay for it!

On being younger than 50 years old and being less the width of the isle. The employee's at NWA recieved a memo from the CEO years ago about NWA wanted to keep the older employee's because of their experience and there would be no early outs package at the time. If at the time NWA did this they would have had people leave who were ready to leave and who made the most money at the company. Also another quote from management at the same time was if you don't like it here at NWA go somewhere else! NWA has done lots to loose money over the years like, give up our charter business, breaking away cargo from mainline. We gave up the charter business and no less than a month later NWA was asking it's employee's for cost saving ideas. Or how about giving up our US mail contracts. Hum I may not be Harvard educated but it seems soneone does'nt have very good business sense!!!

You have my gratitude and sympathy, FA for NWA. I've never understood why passengers go off on the F/A's if the food is crappy (they didn't plan the meals), if there are no blankets/pillows (management makes those decisions) or if the flight is late (they didn't make it late). But as the "face" of the airline, you get it all! I have many F/A friends, current and retired, and I respect all of them. I know I couldn't do your job. Corporate management today, and not just in the airline industry, is a mess. Suits come and go, leaving a trail of destruction (Enron, Worldcom, Tyco), but taking as much as they can before they move on. If your company is in trouble, ALL employees should sacrifice. But to give some bonuses, and rape others, makes no sense. If even a dunce like me can see this, why can't these MBA's see it??? Reminds me of the sign hanging behind the boss's desk: "The beatings will continue until morale improves".
