I support the Communications Workers of America and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 100% in their negotiations. American lives are better because of unions sticking up for worker's rights, benefits, and livable wages.

Hey Rabe You had 6 month to negotiate this contract and you and the Company played games. Union should have never extended it this long. So stop the cover up act and making you and the Company sound like a victim. Better yet the company could out source you or Ivans Job!!!!! That would save several million dollars. Sounds fair huh?

Go figure wrote: Ah man. Now these lazy workers can't hide behind bagel stores while on duty. Run these crooks into the ground. Unions have killed this country. See, Ford, GM, LI School Districts. The only people who complain about unions are the corporations that have to contend with them, AND non-union workers who WISH they had the working conditions, benefits, and rights that union workers have. Instead of COMPLAINING that union workers have it nice, maybe non-union workers should be insisting that that is the way it should be for EVERYONE. People who don't like unions are free to get jobs at Walmart, gas stations, and the like. If one wants to see what work life is like for a country with no unions, go to China and visit one of their quaint little roadside factories. I think you'll pretty much agree that having rights is a nice thing. Lastly, Ford and GM can blame not their union workers but their overpaid CEOs who didn't have the forethought to make fuel efficient cars. Honestly, how STUPID can you be? Can they NOT put 2 and 2 together? Why are their inventories full of gas guzzlers while Toyota and Honda have taken the lead with hybrids and economical cars? You think that's due to the union workers who bust their asses day in and day out following supervisors' orders? How about the CEOs that got multi-million dollar salaries and bonuses, regardless of their performance? I suppose they had NOTHING to do with their company's performance. And as far as LI schools, try getting your child a comparable education in other parts of the country. It's possible, but you'll be hard-pressed to find such schools. Have you not noticed that our schools produce an overwhelming percentage of winners in academic competitions? Have you not noticed the overwhelming percentage of New Yorkers in the nations top schools? It's no accident, you dummy! Eliminate unions and you'll eliminate the last of the livable working class and middle class jobs in this country. Once again, the only people who want that are the very rich (corporations) and those Americans who struggle to make ends meet with non-union jobs and wish they themselves could be part of a union.

If you think about it both party's had three years to talk about it because three years ago they were talking about the exact same issues. Oh well, the union has to justify their worth to the members to be able to charge dues.

See most school systems. The unions did kill the U.S. auto industry. They got way too greedy and now are begging for their old jobs back. That is a fact my friend. Somewhat true, but do those UNION workers live to well? Maybe look into the fact the those Car makers and other companies that had pensions NEVER funded them for their future expense's. See Social Security. Many local governments are now by LAW required to fund these pension systems properly so they wont pass an unfair burden onto the next generation. Though there are plenty of Union abuse's there are way many more Corporate abuse's esp if there were no Unions.

good ol corporate greed is killing middle class. verizon has more than enough money to pay the union. outsource these jobs and NYS spirals further into a recession when these unions members can't pay their bills anymore. Hey verizon! cut jobs and benefits from the top. EVERY JOB A UNION JOB! HANDS OFF OUR BENEFITS!

So what will these union "workers" do? Stop working? I thought they already do that as their career. And no, you gold bricking, useless scums. I'm not "corporate" or "da man". I'm a Verizon customer that got used to your union "service".

I am self employed and do very well without a union. the remaining verizon customers are the losers here, i switched away from verizon 3 years ago, bad customer service and just a medicore product - union made though

Verizon has a 2 class system. every benefit to the unions is off the backs of nonunion and they are not all executives. While the union has FREE medical and pensions, they took it away from management plus shipped plenty of people to NJ. Verizon sticks as an employer.

Yeah...Im jealous...I cant pay dues out of every paycheck to a fay guy smoking cigars and driving around in the car the working stiffs paid for. You Union backers should be tired of drinking the kool-aid already...Unions were good for the workers during the depression, but now they are bleeding this Country to DEATH... Now the Union Leaders had 6 months to negotiate a contract, but they FAILED TO DO SO, and their solution is to tell the WORKERS to STRIKE! Now, the workers wont get paid, but I bet you the head of the Union will still be eating steak while his laborers will be walking the picket line... What a bunch of Mooks you people are...

who do you want in your home? A verizon union employee, who is qualified and passed all background checks to be hired by verizon in the first place. Or some non union installer who tucks his ears into a baseball hat with a flat brim with the sticker still on it.
