I got one of these scammers too from my match.com profile. "She" suddenly disappeared off of the match site as soon as we contacted. Then they wanted to chat on yahoo messenger, which I heard is the one they use. After a few days she said she needed money to pay courier fees to receive her paycheck from the states and needed 100 dollars. Stupdily I sent it western union, dumb dumb. But I got suspicious and sure enough she asked for 750 dollars next. That is when I cut it off. I am happy I only lost a 100 and will take this as a big lesson learned. If it is too good to be true it probably is. These people prey on someone they think might be vulnerable and willing to put themselves out there for "love".

I am pretty sure I have just been scammed the same way, but by a man. Grew up in UK parents died in a car crash, living here in the US , 20 min from me. He is a freelancer who ran out of money, asked me for it. Of course I stopped the emails right there. The emails were so nice and thoughtful, although the English was a bit off. I was played for a fool. That hurt.

De Benin Scam! I have been talking to 2 different guys for over a month, to find out they are both in the same scam, they sound great in most everyway. I am a foreigner so I thought well, their grammar is not the best, neither is mine... They started talking about their career in Benin as Engineers and the project, though the weeks they explain they were getting funds from the Government. Long story short, the question they both made is if I could send them part of the money they will repay. I am assuming the pictures are from people on the internet, with children and the whole sad story of a widow. I am done with online dating!

Interesting...what ever happend with this? Just curious, I fellow co-worker has been telling me of this guy she met on match.com about 2 months ago. My coworker (sorry to be mean) but is a 46 year old heavy smoker, grouch- not attractive at all and the guy in the picture is in his late 20s or early 30s, very attractive, originally from Sweden, supposedly lost his wife when she gave birth to their 6 year old son, whom he has with him, and he has been on business in Africa-- he's a supposed architect! He's asked her to marry him, and she thinks she's soo in love. Supposedly he's coming to the US to meet her and live here ina couple of weeks.... |

Hi! Yes, I could have almost been scammed by a guy I encountered on match.com . His name is Jones Harrison. He puts himself out there as a handsome part-German 48-year old contractor, divorced, living in Florida with a 10 year old kid ("Kelvin"). He uses some guy's pictures to say it's him. Yes, ladies (or gentlemen) watch out for people who want to chat with you and marry you after only a month of chatting. His Yahoo IM name is love_jones10042, which he uses on his yahoo e-mail too. Also uses jones_harrison09@yahoo.com.

Just had one try it on with me. She emailed me from Match.com and asked me to email her Yahoo account, sent he a few photo's as well, 4 or 5 email later she is asking me to send £1750 to help ship goods back to the UK for her business.
Fortunately my common sense finally kicked and I told her to sod off. In hindsight her written English was appalling and she was far to good to be true. Changed all my passwords on the various sites I use, email, UK national lottery, etc to be completely random. What is really annoying is that I should have known better, at least I didn't part wioth any cash |

First off, why would anyone decide to date from another country? Duh. Lets get real people, if you want a serious relationship, date someone in your own town!
Secondly, if you have ANY doubt at all, MOVE ON. Why would you take a chance and have that doubt in your relationship? |
||||
|
By the way, in defense for Match.com ... they have no way to screen these people out so we really have to use our common sense!
Bottom line... Be careful and DON'T be desperate!!! |

I signed up on Match.com , and I've had some great conversations with women(i guess)on there.
The thing is though, I'm not on there to have conversations, I'm on there because I want to actually meet people. The problem is, when it comes time to actually meet, they disappear. So, although they're not asking me for money or anything, they are scamming me because I paid to meet real people, but I'm only meeting the same people, only they're contacting me using different profiles. It's like a downgraded version of phone sex or something. To say the least, it pisses me off. I could walk down the street and meet more real live people in real world situations, and I live in a small town. Online dating is a nickle & dime scam guys, don't sign up. Go out and talk to women in real life. |
||||
I would have to disagree, I have met a lot of great women here. Why am I not "hitched"? Just haven't found the right one. Things happen in lifes and if you knew about what really happened with those women, you might then understand. We never understand what we can't see. Ask yourself if maybe they found someone better? It has happened to me too. Move on and jump back in the water. Give it a chance and it will happen for you! |

I want to also thank you Dee. I've been speaking with this scammer for a couple of weeks now and everything seemed to be going too fast. I have great intuition and decided to dig a little deeper and found your comments. Thanks

By the way, the online screen name of the guy is now changed to deservedlove. Clearly, he just changed his profile and continued his scam. I have reported to match.com , but not sure they can or will do anything.

The women in the philippines are patient and are willing to scam you and be nice for AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP. These women live this way. They dont love you but exchange the loving facad for security and citizenship. So if you dont mind her not really loving you for yourself and you dont mind knowing she is doing it for citizenship and security then go for it. She is nice but still playing you ...they would rather play you than live in philipines with poor prospects. To some guys this is an even exchange...they know the score but are in denial...it just works out that way... |

There is this woman she says her name is cynthia .. she is from match ... she claims she is wealthy and the next thing she ask you for is money .. she is very good at this .. pls don fall for this ..
