Totally agree with all you guys. I worked there for half a year and was pressured to resigned. Their way of trying to sell these extend warranty are basically through lying and forcing people to buy them. And when something happens, dont wont cover it(unless its some small amount) depends on the price. Like a computer is the worst to buy a warrenty for, they can make up any excuse to not cover. WE TELL CUSTOMERS IT COVERS EVERYTHING! TO SELL IT!THATS WHAT THEY TEACH US...
Really?!?!?! Odd, been with this company for nearly 6 years and never once had to lie to a customer to sell them anything. Also could you tell me what store manager in their right mind would hire an associate who can't even piece a sentence together? And next time you drop your latptop on the floor in McDonalds and the screen cracks down the middle, make sure you to call HP, i'm sure they'll fix it right up for you. For FREE!

I would have to agree totally. A insurance plan that covers accidentally warranty is not a half bad thing. I think almost everyone should get a service plan on a laptop and camera just for accidental damage. However the previous employee was is mistaken, I make it a point to make NEW cover the warranty. Have your receipt or register it that is all we ask. I have seen a computer dropped down a flight of stairs covered. Granted the customer received a gift card, but it was for the full amount of the computer.

Get this, store manager on vacation till Monday 6/30, sales manager cut off the tip of his finger over the weekend,(at work), opps. sup. and myself in at 6am to finish some stuff.
(i know crazy)
Then the ax at 9am, or so. DM not to worried it seems. Lets wait till last min. and see what will happen. No one will be running the place.
Happy thoughts, Happy thoughts, Happy thoughts.
My Store Manager laid me off via long distance phone call cuz she was on vacation. After 3 1/2 years, 2 1/2 as Sales Supv and Ops Supv, I was told that my services were no longer needed, the Asst Mgr would escort me to breakroom to clean out my locker, and I was escorted out of the bldg. Yep, was real important to Sore Manager. What's Sam Dubcan always saying about Integrity and all that good stuff?

most of you on here crying about your jobs are sad. having gone through the process like most of you i was a key carrying supervisor. i interviewed well showed them i was invaluable and did my job to the fullest. was given a promotion and a new store to open. i read your posts and your claims to being such amazing workers with every other word misspelled or should i say mispeled... it's easy to be bitter and turn the finger of blame on everyone but yourself. if you could step up preform a job and show a company they would be crazy not to keep you, you'd all still probably have your posistions. here it is months after the restructure and every manager , in my district, that was let go, their stores are better off for it. officemax cut dead weight. and sorry for a few of you that did get the short end of the stick, but most of you deserved it.
You wrote "preform" a job and show the company they would be crazy not to keep you... Looks like you could use spell check yourself, hero.

I think its amazing that he makes so much money and then decided that a store thats over payroll by 500.00 has committed a huge crime. Maybe they should do a corporate sweep and get rid of all the idiots who do planograms and order all the crap thats going onto the new trend endcaps. Do they really think hiring cheap employees is going to do something? Here is a new motto for you sam quality or quanity<<<remember that. Also why waste time and money on a 411 for lesbian, gay, transgender, bisexual month lol
Because this is current popular subject, and they're hoping it will Keep Officemax in thr limelight. Doesn't matter that some of the folks laid off on 6/25/08 were covered under federal Americans with Disabilities Act, and that the way they went about the lay offs violated federal law. So guess Celebrate Diversity, but Discriminate against the Disabled...

Ha wow, and i thought i would never find a group of people that feel the same way I do. We associates work our asses off just to make this selfish greedy bastard even more rich. When i watched the video telling me that i wouldn't receive a raise until next year, i wanted to punch Mr. Duncan in the face, and i still do. Cheers to office max, the greediest most underpaying company in the nation. And cheers to Mr. Duncan for being a grade A douchebag.

Don't hold your breath - they never said for sure when annual raises would be in place again. Nothing says that we'll get raises at the end of this year/beginning of next either.

Today OfficeMax charged me $20.94 without tax to fax six pages of documents to Dhaka, Bangladesh which used to cost me less than $7.00. Do this CEO thinks that by just raising prices he would be able to save the corporation? Trim down on the top, if you need to survive.

Yes I am Sam Duncan and I can do what I want. I led grocery stores to their death, I hire Bruce the CFO who drives companies like Circuit city in the ground. My good old pal Jim Durkin who is a nazi and has no clue since he sold uniforms will also lead this company in the ground. Infact my whole senior management will lead you all into the ground. Our stock sucks along with our CFO I just hired. Look at his track record...you will find he had none but failure!

Hah, that's nothing. The same fax at Office Depot would have cost you 27.94. And as long as I've been an OD employee, it's always been that much.

I loved my job and friends at the Max, some of whom still work there. The frustration of being treated like the donkey, that Slammin Sammy referenced in a comment at sales meeting wore me out.
Sammy said " I can get a donkey to sit on the corner and do what you do". Retail mentality ran OMax to the ground. He was hired to energize the stores and he abused the trust of the store employees. If you go by the old addage of the guy that dies with the most toys wins, then I guess Sam Duncan wins.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Leo

This is one of those days when money slips through your fingers in no time at all unless you're very vigilant about your spending habits. Unfortunately, it will be difficult to stop yourself splashing out whenever the fancy takes you, whether or not you can afford it. You're especially drawn to tempting little treats and luxurious indulgences.
