Goodbye Steelcase. You had a good run and were good for Grand Rapids. Now you will go out of country inorder to make more money. You would lower the standard of living you helped build and become the GREEDY, LOW LIFE, MORONS who desert the American people.
Don't leave us hanging. JUST LEAVE NOW. |

I was just telling my friend last night, That I whenever I hear "Steelcase" I worry about her. And she said that the company is doing good and grossed like 15 billion (or something like that) last year.

The modern day corporate culture. It's no longer enough to do good. There MUST be growth every month, much less per year. There is no acceptance of a reasonable return for every one or even doing with less temporarily for the long term good of the company. |
|
There will be no middle class in a few years, and the State of Michigan will be the last state in the Union to recover financially. Only one word really explain it all, GREED.
God Bless America. |

It's a plant in CA that is closing, not in MI. I know this because I have family that work there that know.

Ah yes,Another casuality of NAFTA. Thank you Mr. Bush, and all the lobiests , special intreast groups, and their little crownies in Washington who have pushed so hard. Thanks for sending the american dream to China, Mexico, India,Tiwain , and other parts of the world. May I quote a phrase from Mr.Bush " NAFTA is good for America". He should have said, NAFTA is good for "corprate" America. Welcome to the United States of Third world America.

oh well, thats kinda good. but still.

One plant in CA is closing and work from Canada is coming to the United States. Before jumping to conclusions about the operations of a company try reading their year end statement. Grossing 15 billion is a ridiculous number as well.

no where in their conference call did they mention the salary cuts the exec's felt they should take to help shoulder the pain the rest of the workforce will be feeling... why can't we outsource their jobs too?
|
|

I used to work at Steelcase back in it's glory days. They always were top heavy.
|
|
Probably meant 1.5 billion. |

This is still America. If you don't like how a company is run you can start your own "better" company and pay yourself and your employees whatever you like. Complaining is for looters that don't want to work.

Bill Clinton was the one who signed Nafta....and Hillary supported it...
Cripe even passports for the US are done in Taiwan. No such thing as buy American! This is very disturbing, and don't see any hope of change for quite a while.

I am buying products made locally. I am going to find them. |
|
Not that simple....but for a simple minded person I suppose it is. Small businesses can barely compete given the high cost of health care in this country. Hard for them to compete against these large corporations that have the resources/etc. to outsource their labor to cheaper markets (at the expense of America of course). |
|
It was Good ole Bill Clinton that signed the NAFTA in to "help build trade relations" with other countries. Not Bush. I am glad his term is almost up. Go BARACK kick Hillary's arse. |
