Retailers trying to entice tax-rebate spenders

As tax rebates hit people's bank accounts this week, retailers are angling to lure shoppers with free check-cashing and bonus gift cards among other promotions.

I see there's a pic of Albertson's??.....Thats the last place to shop. their prices are off the charts.

I'm spending $2000 more a year just to fill my tank. If anybody think that I will spend the so-called stimulus check in Wal-Mart is because they are smoking heroine or are from another planet

Maybe so, a lot of their prices are high. However if you're looking for 2 for one promotions, they are worth a stop. You can usually do pretty well that way.

For anything else, I like Publix. Clean...

me i will be saving my check at least most of it and because i do not drive i will if anything buy groceries and thats it. nothing more than what i really need and there is nothing that i can think of that i really need at this point in time if i have any left over it will stay in my savings account for further use if and when i need to use it.

Forget it guys. The money is going for gas. So much for the liberal environmentalist idea that higher gas prices will cut gas consumption. High gas prices is only cutting consumption on other products.

It looks like the rebate checks stimulated something just not spending.hmmmm What is to come of us? We can't even afford to spend the extra money we were not counting on.
