According to Janice Badgley of TCE TransCanada Energy, Hornby rural Milton Ontario area site alteration occurred between October and December 2007.

Yet, Halton Hills council only cleared the way to allow building permits to be issued for the generating station at a special council meeting in November.

CALGARY -- Canada's conventional oil supplies are running down. They are being replaced with oil from Alberta's tar sands.
Each barrel of tar-sands oil produces two to three times more greenhouse-gas emissions than a barrel of conventional oil.
The result is obvious:
Greenhouse-gas emissions from Alberta oil have been rising...

Now you know why they picked this side of the 401 to build in instead of the other side of the hwy - right next to the power grid in Milton.

Council bribery "clears the way" in this town. Everyone else gets a stop work order.

I want everyone to know that I firmly believe in Hydro Production from Natural Gas, it is clean, available on short notice (it can take a coal fired plant up to 24 hours to "come on line" and get up to full power) reaching full power in as little as 30 mins!!!!

CLEAN?????

It's not clean, it's a low-pollution fuel compared to coal or oil but it's still fare from being clean. Wind energy is clean.

Too bad our provincial government isn't as progressive as it could be. All that money spent on these fuel burning generating stations could have been put towards building a respectable wind farm that would have produced zero emissions.

FYI... wind energy is not any better for the environment it produces noise pollution. Ever notice the hum around downtown Toronto? That's from that thing at CNE. A field of them you can't hear yourself think, and you won't find any fauna within miles... totally destroys habitat.
We just need to go with the best we can, and work at making it better and better...
Yes we produce green house gases, but remember without it mother nature will still go through it's cycle of heating up the earth, melting the poles, ice age and renewal.. it's happened many times over many millenia. Our focus and hope should be to live in better harmony, to reduce our imprint and possibly (if we can actually do it and not cause worse catastrophy) stave off or lessen the effects of the next ice age.
