Whew! we just had our 97 singlewide moved over 30 miles in New York State. The reason it was so hard to find someone is because there are so many added safety regulations that the transporters have to deal with. They have to be licensed by the state, insured (your mobile home insurance doesn't cover damage while moving), and get the proper permits
from the Dept. of transportation in order to move on their roads. The guy we finally found was a gem!
But he was 100 miles away! It cost us $3000 plus a generous tip for them to break down the plumbing, jack it up and remove the supporting blocks, attach the hitch, fix 2 axles, put tires on the axles, put safety lights on the back, transport it with 2 guide trucks and a crew of 5 men, get it onto the property and slab (that was a feat, because the pivoting of the axles wasn't tight and it took him 4 careful hours and a special hydraulic tow hitch to move the 66 ft. trailer back and forth, up and down, eight inches at a time in order to get it up the 35 ft. wide driveway, lined with trees!) Then they have to hook up the electric, plumbing, sewer, jack it up, put and level supporting blocks, install huricane tie-downs and remove the tires, safety lights, and hitch. They were worth every dime! We did our own skirting. Wasn't hard at all, as long as you are on a concrete pad. We were living in it in a park and wanted it moved to our own land. It looks better now that it's set right this time!

P.S. I found the mobile home mover on mhvillage.com
They have categories by state and it is easy to find a list, hard to find someone who will do it.

Go to mhvillage.com and look up the transporters in your state. I did it in NY and it worked! Read my post

I'm thinking about purchasing a mobile home, but I want to purchase the land instead of living in a mobile home park which is very costly in the state of Maryland ($698.00 mo-which only includes trash, snow removal and hotwater). What does it take to prepare the land to setup mobile home.
