The FCCS canceled the contract because the UMCH just recently refused residents, not because they knew UMCH was an out of control facility. UMCH had signed the contract that said they should take every single resident that FCCS sent their way. Because of the attention and general chaos they actually refused a resident they knew they couldn't handle and as a result FCCS canceled the contract. We should thank the city council, citizens, and media for finally holding them accountable so that they actually made an ethical decision (for once). This new director is a great thing for this facility, for the kids, and for the community. FCCS is a mess.

Sometimes, long after the adults can't get a clue, the decisions make themselves, and this was the case with the United Methodist Children's Home. Good riddance.

I am a former employee of UMCH and currently am a certified treatment foster parent for UMCH. I am also a teacher of students who have severe emotional disturbances. I have worked with the youth that no one else wants to work with and the UMCH has embraced that ministry for over 100 years when no one else was willing. I celebrate their ministry and celebrate the staff that have put their hearts and souls into the youth who have been served at UMCH. I am proud to call many of them friends, ministers and true leaders. Spend some time with these same youth, instead of passing a quick judgment, and I promise you will feel the same.

We cant just keep locking the kids up, they need treatment and news flash everyone locked up kids get out sooner or later. And with out treating the problem we will just have to put them into adult prisons. And just for record foster homes are a joke ,no kids who went in one way came out abused . its a shame that all anyone wants to do is lock up the teens. They should be kept locked up as long as they commit crimes !!!!

These kids will not disappear. They will be placed all around the county in foster homes, some of which are only in it for the buck and will let them run wild! The path of crime will be widened. It's sad they couldn't make it work. Every community produces juvenile deliquents, but none want to deal with them.

Everyone keeps talking about these kids, these kids. FYI most of them are not kids. They are criminals. FCCS shoves them in anyplace they can just so they don't have to deal with them. The criminals they place in the Methodist home are many times sociopaths and psychopaths. The should never be in an unsecure facility. Sorry people but there ARE people who can't be saved. They should be treated kindly and fairly but they should never be placed in a vulnerable community to victimize it. Neither sociopaths or psychopaths can be treated or medicated to the point they could be considered cured. The only thing that works to lessen their activities is either a full or partial lobotomy. Horrible thought ? Yes, but people lose limbs or brain function everyday to treat other diseases. What is the difference with mental diseases that are otherwise incurable ?

Memo to Mr. Wilkins from an interested family member of a long time Worthington citizen/resident currently living directly across from UMCH's cottages in Worthington Estates:
Please consider UMCH partnering with the much more managerial-functional, financially 'solvent', Department of MRDD. A good model would be the Hilltop. NOT Mental Health, but MRDD. It would be well worth your while.

Glad they got rid of Karen Goggen and that snake Keith Queener who got paid while his kids was sick and didnt work the entire 2 weeks they both picked and chosed what kids they wanted. Treatment program that was a joke the Clinician they had were so dam young did have a clue in what was a treatment program. If they had been trained right and not given a job right after college with no experience on dealing with children. The racial game had lots to do with it also look how many African Americans they had working there the whites were so afraid of staff than the kids. The third shift staff spent more time in each other pants and not watching the childern at night caused alot of problem. The school sucked too they had a Principle name Ms. Brown she was worthless if she had taken the time to spend with the children instead on her back in the teachers lounge they would have known how tough it was to help these kids. Right Ruben pimps up hoes down. I am glad they closed this place down maybe in few years they can reopen with a better sense of direction.

Age doesn't matter nor education I was in FCCS as a child and also worked at UMCH as a adults I helped and got through to the kids but the staff were jealous of me because they thought I wanted the male staff NO I was there for the kids. They didn't know what those babies needed. They should of closed it down degree cannot teach you pain of abandonment or abuse and if I had the $ I would open it and Help these kids, that I once was! and can relate to each and everyone!. I would help them To become productive members of society. Katrina Krodriguez421@gmail.com
