I've been a resident of Northfield since 1970 - and the main people affected by the Willow road bottleneck are the people of Northfield - the majority of which want it widen. Once again a small highly vocal group with their heads in the sand are trying to block change. Concratulations to Schoenberg!!!

I'm hoping Schoenberg runs for Governor. It'd be a refreshing change to vote for someone who will act sensibly and decisively to protect the clear and obvious interests of the vast majority of his constituents. Safety concerns can be addressed with pedestrian bridges/tunnels, as they are along Lake Street in Glenview. This is one of the few roads with access to both the Tri-State and the Edens. It needs to be four lanes.

Hi Floyd,

You Wrote "The problem apparently was a 3 lane road wasn't the proper configuration given the whole situation."

Understand that Jeff Schonenberg made this decision - not some IDOT engineering think tank - an Illinois Politician.

Make it nine lanes - you still can't get traffic onto the edens any faster. But don't say this has anything to do with "prpoer configurations". That suggests the old plan was halted by IDOT. When everyone knows it was halted by Sen. Schonenberg. I can't argue 4 lanes wouldn't be faster than three. I trust you can't argue three lanes wouldn't be faster than two.

I'll take 3 for now. The 4 lane fight sounds like it will take another 37 years.

The problem for Northfield is that added eastbound traffic from Willow will not be able to get on the Edens in the late afternoon and early evening, because the southbound Edens is at almost a standstill then, and has been that way for some years now. Add more traffic from Willow road at that time, and it will pile up on Willow back west to chronically block the busy Northfield intersections.
I had a chance to mention this to Sen. Schoenberg. He had no reply.
