O'Neill said he tried to warn Vice President Dick Cheney that growing budget deficits-expected to top $500 billion this fiscal year alone-posed a threat to the economy. Cheney cut him off. "You know, Paul, Reagan proved deficits don't matter," he said, according to excerpts. Cheney continued: "We won the midterms (congressional elections). This is our due." A month later, Cheney told the Treasury secretary he was fired.

Running an ad is about the only way to see something really critical of Obama on NBC.

Didn't you know? It's OK when Republicans spend us into economic collapse, especially when it's personally benefitting them.

It was a Republican that led us into collapse in 1929. Watch what happens in 2013 if Romney's elected.

Stars And Stripes reports that as of May 2011, U.S. efforts in Afghanistan and Iraq totaled $9.7 billion a month

The Iraq war is costing the nation's taxpayers an astounding $186,000 per minute-every minute of every day. If the money had been spent on AMERICANS versus warring, here's what your hard earned tax dollars could have bought:

The money could have purchased health insurance policies for 265,701,285 uninsured people

•21,510,598 full four-year scholarships to public universities

•7,689,734 new public school teachers

The Commission on Wartime Contracting cites $40 million prison in Iraq the country did not want and which was never completed, and a $300 million Kabul power plant that requires sustained funding and expertise that Kabul does not have the resources to provide.

YOUR TAX DOLLARS put out $10,000 worth of “Pastry Classes for Disadvantaged Women,” encouraging Iraqis to open bakeries on streets without water or sewers. Another was $25,000 worth of children’s bicycles. About $22,000 of your tax money was spent to paint a mural on the side of a gym. The purpose was to “provide an aesthetically pleasing sight upon entry, helping to bring a sense of normalcy for the citizens in the area and for those passing through.”

The best one was $12,000 worth of computers for internet use in a school that had no electricity. The school also had no teachers or students, but the PCs were supposed to encourage them.

$1.2 trillion (the cost of the wars) would pay for an unprecedented public health campaign — a doubling of cancer research funding, treatment for every American whose diabetes or heart disease is now going unmanaged.

Besides the direct military spending, there's the gas tax that the war has effectively imposed on American families (to the benefit of oil-producing countries like Iran, Russia and Saudi Arabia).

Yes, government spending sucks, but what sucks worse is HOW we choose to spend those dollars. OUR tax dollars should be spent on US...the American people who pay the taxes...not to benefit foreign countries.

The media eviscerated alternatives to Romney in the primary attack mode. The pass given BHO is the DNC's Sword of Damocles.
