I know most of the percentage goes to the crude oil, but at the pump the government makes at least 14% in their taxes. so right there is a huge chunk. the government could lower prices and still make a killing they just refuse to.

Whatever the traffic will bear as in anything. As soon as people stop bellyaching and stop driving gas slobbering SUV's, and hurt Big Oil and greedy politicians that cover their a$$es, things will stay the same. Hurt them where it hurts the most ..... the wallet.

Unfortunately your unrealistic, many depend on those cars for their work, I mean you remember what your saying next time you need a plumber, a maintenance man, and electrician. Thats just 3 out of many that need SUV's or trucks. that being said I do realize there are many that just have them for status only, and your right, some of those do not need there trucks or SUV. But again it is unrealistic to ask everyone to stop driving I mean if it is the only car they have to get to work in, you can not ask them not to drive it as it is a mode of transport that they have in order to get to work. Some people have bad credit and can only afford the cars they have. So while i agree it would hurt them, it is very unrealistic idea. eyes of realism wrote: Whatever the traffic will bear as in anything. It is so sad and the outrages prices are hurting us. I would like to know how the prices are caluated. When the reporters say the price of gas has gone from 127.00 a barrel to $130.00; what does that mean to us? Does that mean we pay $0.3 more a gallon,$0.30more or what?

I love how they blame the consumer for the high prices of oil. I think it is very convenient that our president has stock in oil and he supposedly can't do anything to regulate the price. The government has regulated the price on so many other things that Americans need. They sure did come down on Microsoft pretty hard when they were monopolizing the market. I honestly don't think anything will be resolved until the American people finally revolt against our goverment. We need a government that is afraid of its people not the other way around.

Prices begin at the well, but that doesn't excuse Exxon/Mobil from pulling down record profits every freaking quarter. They could reduce their profit margin if they wanted to help us save what Bush has put asunder.
