US Navy explains plan to scrap DDG-1000 destroyer

The Bush administration has had it in for the Bath Ship Works for some time.

...."Thankyou" Mr. Bush, I do, myself, have been working @ BIW, for more then twenty years. HE took away Brunswick Naval Airstation, and moved them to Florida, only due to the fact NewEngland voted for the "Dems" back in 2004.
Who knows what happens next. Jan. 20th is comming soon though........

There is nothing like a Bath Destroyer. When the Germans bough ships,they had to made at Bath. They even had to change the name of the Claude Ricketts and give it a German name and build anoher Claude Ricketts.Closing military bases is not new. We had a Rep named Philbin and the voters elected father Drinain in his place. Philbin was slated to be the House Armed Ser Chairman and what would that have brought MA, PLENTY, instead we lost just about every military installation in the state. There was a guy named Medel; Rivers from SC, he moved everything but the Statue of Liberty to SC. Then there was anther guy Named Hebert fro LA. He moved what was left to LA. Then a lot of the shipbuilding was moved to MS. It all has to do with senority. I was very happy in the Navy and stationed out of Newport,RI. I wouuld have stayed another 10 yeras but they moved the ships to Norfolk. I did not mind going for cruises etc and I had my home and family here, so why should I go to Norfolk when I can go home with 55% of my pay, so I retired. This is what Congess is good at, screwing things up.

Just after September 11th, 2001; I wrote to the Sec. Navy and requested that the Saratoga be reactivated, and anchored in the Hudson River to provide combat air patrols over Indian Point. He did not even answer my request.

Air patrols over NY continued for about 3 weeks, then disappeared. It was "too expensive" to fly all the way up from the nearest base, down near DC. They wouldn't reactivate Stuart AFB or Westchester Reserve AFB.

Can you imagine?
Why have fighter jets at all?

What was the name of that great LOBSTER ROLL stand just outside the fence at the Brunswick Naval Airstation? Is it still there?

The Dixie Chicks are fantastic! Their song TRAVELING SOLDIER is the greatest Vietnam song ever written. The Dixie Chicks deserve an apology from the media for boycotting them all these years. The media believed President Bush told the truth like I did. President Bush is not only a liar but totally incompetant. Bush's FREE TRADE policy has jacked up the price of oil and to make matters worse he plans to invade Iran and he is hoarding oil in the strategic stockpile. The dumbest thing this President has done is conspire with the oil companies to increase their profit margins at the expense of America. America uses 23 million barrels of oil per day and the American oil companies are pumping 8.5 million barrels of oil per day from American oil wells. This says we only need to import 14.5 million barrels to meet our needs. That translates to 64% imported oil. The oil companies are selling the oil they pump out of Alaska to Japan and China and we are forced to import 2 million more barrels of oil from the radical islamic dictatorship in Saudi Arabia (home of Al Qaeda) than we need. Bush should be impeached for insider trading and war crimes and the Dixie Chicks should be elected to congress. Replace Nancy Pelosi the protector of Bush with a Dixie Chick. Hey how about booting Pelosi out and Natalie Manes into congress
